From skydiving indoors to being surrounded by beautiful islands, Singapore has a lot going on!
If Ultra Croatia was any indication, this year’s Singapore edition is going to be one of the most epic ones yet! But Singapore as a city has so much going on other than the festival, things you should definitely check out if you’re heading to the lion city this year. Here’s a handy list you can use!
1. Check out the brilliant nightlife
The local scene is surprisingly vibrant and happening. If you wish to begin your party a few days before living it up in Ultra, we suggest you head to Lion City a little earlier and check out the sick nightlife. Zouk on Jiak Kim Street is your best bet to have a downright insane time. With sprawling multi-level dance floors, and three dazzling club spaces, this is THE destination to see international DJs – think house and techno elite like Paul Van Dyk or EDM crowd pleasers like Dyro. Other clubs you can check out are Attica, Refuge, Bang Bang and Altimate.
2. Go for stand up comedy
Stand up comedy in Singapore has been rapidly increasing and you need to get in on this like now! The most popular venue for quality standup is Comedy at Canvas. The club hosts all kinds of events such as open mics and comedy competitions. The most popular one is hosted by local favourite and drag queen, Kumar.
3. Sing your heart out
What’s fun without a little karaoke? Thankfully, Singapore knows this as well. You can go ahead and participate in all kinds of awesome karaoke events all throughout the city. If money is a problem, then the Ten Dollar Club is perfect for you! The club is exactly what it sounds like, and at $10 per session, you’ll get the bare karaoke essentials as well as free-flow of hot and soft drinks. For other popular joints you can check out the family friendly Teo Heng, Tang Music Box and Cash Studio.
4. Take up an escape room challenge. Because, why not?
This one you need to do just because of how awesome it sounds. Lock yourself and your friends in a room and proceed to make your way out of it by solving complicated clues and hints. All of this in under 50 minutes! If a keen eye and a deductive mind are your strong suits, we suggest you try this challenge out! Places such as Lockdown and Xcape are perfect for this Sherlock Holmes-inspired adventure!
5. Explore Haw Par Villa
Curious about the origins of old Chinese myths and beliefs? The Singapore Tourism Board and tour specialist Journeys are inviting you to discover the history of one of Singapore’s most longstanding iconic heritage parks: Haw Par Villa! To celebrate 50 years of tourism and development in sunny Singapore, these free guided tours of Haw Par Villa will allow you a peek into our colourful heritage. We reckon it’s a good history lesson and a great day out for the whole family!
6. Go island hopping!
Kusu Island is one of the Southern Islands in Singapore, located about 5.6 kilometres to the south of the main island of Singapore, off the Straits of Singapore. It’s perfect for a day picnic! Saint John’s Island, previously known as Pulau Sakijang Bendera, is one of the Southern Islands in Singapore.
