CANADA: North By Northeast (NXNE) has announced that Nolan Bushnell – founder of Atari, entrepreneur, and author – will deliver a keynote speech at the festival’s Future Land conference on June 15. NXNE Future Land conference brings together the intersection of music and gaming with a speaker series and industry panels focusing on technology, gaming, and how musicians can thrive in these industries.

Future Land sessions include: ‘The Art of Sound and Music’, with music composers and game publishers discussing how they make, find and choose music for gaming soundtracks; ‘Master Class in Storytelling and Game Development’ with the creators at Ubisoft; and ‘Designing the Future’ with Big Viking, innovators in the mobile gaming industry, speaking about why they believe Toronto is poised as an innovation hub. Session attendees will also have a chance to sign up and experience the latest in Virtual Reality from sponsor AMD.

Nolan Bushnell is best known as the founder of Atari Corporation. Often cited as the father of the video game industry, Bushnell introduced videogames to the masses with Pong, Computer Space and many other legendary games, as well as the home videogame console system with multiple game cartridges. With his latest startup, BrainRush, he is intent on fixing education with software that uses gamification principles to ‘addict’ students to learning.

Even more programming announcements will be revealed in the coming weeks including NXNE Game Land, and additional NXNE Port Lands and NXNE Club Land programming.
