One thing I have come to realise with both my faith and my health journey over the course of the last 7 years is that you will be whatever you tell yourself!

Conquer the power of positivity
YOU ARE WHAT YOU TELL YOURSELF! This may be a weird statement for some and I respect that, but I will challenge your conventional thinking a little.

Have you ever had to do public speaking/ training/ a presentation/ a play ... anything which involves more than 10 people let say? Did you walk into the room ... look at the crowd with great trepidation and then the butterflies hit BAM! Next, the nerves kick in .... and finally, your emotions trigger a thought that says 'I CAN'T DO THIS!' ... but it's too late ... and you have to do it!

You somehow get through the event and when you look back in retrospect, reflect on how your initial response was 'I can't' and how when you are forced to do it, you suddenly conquer that thought and it becomes 'I have to do this , I can do this , I will do this!' ... you are what you tell yourself! You have now seen the power of positivity!

When you look in the mirror who do you see? More importantly, who do others see?

We spend our lives justifying why we don't qualify, why we are not good enough, why we are not pretty enough ... not thin enough ... etc etc. It's time to turn that around and change the way you look at life!

I love this verse from the bible:
My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.
Psalm 73v26

Now you may not be Christian and again I respect that, but no matter how we look at it, it seems that we all strive for perfection. There is one giant problem ... perfection looks totally different to each every one of us ... so, no matter how you strive to reach YOUR GOAL OF PERFECTION no one else will appreciate it, simply because they don't look at you in the same way!

I encourage you to do the following:

1. Ask 5 trusted and lifelong friends to write down how they see you as a person, ask them for areas where you shine and areas you need to work on and create an 'SELF-WORKBOOK'.

2. Practice telling yourself daily about your unique and beautiful qualities.

3. Approach life positively with a 'glass half full' outlook, avoid answering negatively whether in tone or the content of what you say to others.

Life is far better when you accept the setbacks and see them as set-up's for future blessings and happiness, without trials, we would not grow, be stretched or mature to our full potential. This being said, it does not mean that the tears won't come, the disappointments will not disappear nor will the challenges, but at least you can look at them through a positive light and try to glean the lesson in each day.

I count myself blessed as a Christian to know that my identity lies in Christ, but for those of you who don't have faith as your foundation, do not let your identity lie in the opinion and expectations of others ... our journeys are all unique and all tailor-made ... so don't try to live someone else's journey!

I wish you a day filled with positivity, happiness, joy and may you face your challenges head on knowing that you are BEAUTIFUL and WELL ABLE!
