Bollywood has given some of the amazing and foremost onscreen couples, whom we love to watch together, as they have sizzled the screen with their charm and chemistry. Some of those hot couples were off course, the ultimate Rekha-Amitabh, Kajol-Shahrukh and Rajesh Khanna-Mumtaz. However, now days the directors are breaking the usual norms and experimenting with new pairs. Some of them rock the silver screen, whereas some become a stock of laughter. Here is a list of some unusual onscreen pairings of Bollywood.

Rani Mukherjee and Abhishek Bachchan

Firstly let’s take a look at their height: Junior B is as tall as a Giraffe, and we all know that Rani is one of the short-heighted actresses. With almost difference of a foot between the two, most of the filmmakers were against their pairing (I think they forgot Amitabh and Jaya). Mani Ratnam took the risk to cast them in ‘Yuva’, and yes, they sizzled the silver screen with their mind-blowing chemistry. The pair rocked the screens and the same goes with the movie. Together they did several good films, like ‘Bunty Aur Babli’, ‘Laaga Chunari Mein Daag: Journey of a Woman ’. They received a lot of appreciation for their perfect chemistry. After their broken alleged relationship, sadly, we did not see them together in films.

Mallika Sherawat and Rahul Bose

Rahul Bose, a short heightened man, is a legend when it comes to serious, conventional and content-based cinema. Mallika Sherawat, a tall woman, is a controversial, glamourous and perky actress. When they came together in ‘Pyar ke Side Effects’, nobody knew that the pair as well as the film, will be a huge hit. The sexy Mallika with dorky Rahul Bose was an amazing treat to watch. People loved them, and they became popular as romantic couple in the rom-coms.

Bipasha Basu and R. Madhavan

Bipasha Basu is a fitness freak, whereas we all know that Madhavan is definitely not the fittest guy in Bollywood. The lady has her own fitness CDs and DVDs in the market, and the guy is in the desperate need of a fitness guru. Well, these two were paired up in ‘Jodi Breakers’, where they played the role of break-up specialists. No doubt, that the pairing was innovative, but they failed to impress the audience. The movie was a failure, as well as the pairing.

Jiah Khan and Amitabh Bachchan

The legendary actor of Bollywood, Mr. Amitabh Bachchan, is a respected person in the industry. When Ram Gopal Verma dared to cast Jiah Khan, a 30 years younger girl than him in ‘Nishabd’, the pairing became a controversial one. It was a taboo subject, as it is unrespectable for the Indian society to accept romance between an aged man and a very young girl. The movie certainly gained publicity, but Amitabh swore never to make such an attempt. Some though, liked the pair, and some, literally hated it.

Rani Mukherjee/ Vidya Balan and Shahid Kapoor

Shahid Kapoor is famous for his cute, chocolaty looks in the industry. He definitely has grown in terms of acting skills, but certainly not in looks. He still looks like a college goer guy and haven’t changed much in his physical appearance. This is the foremost reason, why he looks typically odd with these two gorgeous ladies. In ‘Dil Bole Hadippa’ and ‘Kismat Konnection’, he looked younger in comparison to his ladyloves. Well, Rani and Vidya looked like his aunts in the films. The pair was a mismatch, and the movies were not-so-good types too.

Vidya Balan and Naseeruddin Shah

Well, there isn’t much age difference between these two, in comparison to Amitabh and Jiah, but they aren’t any less. Both of them work in content-based films and are indeed superb actors. The age gap between them didn’t stop them from showing a mind-blowing chemistry together onscreen. The films ‘Ishqiya’ and ‘Dirty Picture’ were super hit, and the same goes with their pairing. Though, some people find the pairing fresh, hot and innovative, whereas for some, it was awkward.

Hansika Motwani and Himesh Reshammiya

This was the funniest and the oddest pair ever! Seriously, look at Himesh, he isn’t an actor type material (who looks like a wannabe in the film); then there was this 15 year old girl Hansika, who was another big grown up disaster. He looked too old and odd for romancing with such a young aged girl (everybody is not Amitabh Bachchan). The film was a disaster (except of a few songs), and the paring was even more disastrous.

Katrina Kaif and Govinda

When director David Dhawan thought of casting beautiful- tall Katrina Kaif and the slapstick guy of Bollywood Govinda in ‘Partner’, it was completely meant to portray mismatch couples. Well, they in fact, looked so much mismatched, but still audience loved their pairing. They were kind of looking cute together. Though, they were not looking awesomely fantastic onscreen, but definitely, they were funny.

Lara Dutta and Sanjay Dutt

God knows what director Anthony D’Souza was thinking, when he was casting the super hot babe Lara Dutta opposite Sanjay Dutt in ‘Blue’. Lara was looking sizzling hot in a bikini, but such a babe with Sanju baba, was a weird pairing. The audience laughed after seeing them together on the silver screen.
