Clearing my backlog of posts so here’s one about my trip to River Safari! Actually it was for a family event where my cousins and I volunteered to help out.

The River Safari is Asia’s First and Only River-Themed Wildlife Park and is a separate extension of the zoo. (Located between the Zoo and Night Safari) Within the compound, it’s split into different trials such as ‘The Rivers of the World’, ‘Amazon Flooded Forest’, ‘Giant Panda Forest’, etc. The route in the River Safari is less complex than the Zoo because it’s practically just one round loop, so you get to cover everything and not get lost.

First thing that greeted us were these cute little ducks!!

Covered with interesting facts to increase your knowledge.

There you get to see lots of interesting fishes!!

Pris was my partner for the event!

Quiet spot away from the bustling city life.

I’ve a weird phobia of deep waters… Like looking at this picture is enough to make me feel uncomfortable, like the feeling of shortness of breathe.

When I’m swimming in the pool, I can’t swim at the deeper parts of the pool (1.8m) with my eyes open without cos I’ll freak out. I’ll keep thinking there’ll be weird sea creatures like sharks coming out from the bottom and eat me up or something. I remember there was once in P3 we had compulsory swimming classes and we had to swim across the deep areas for our swimming exams. The swimming instructor was waiting for us somewhere in between. So I actually swam towards my instructor with my eyes closed and grabbed onto him for my dear life once I reached him. So traumatising.

The Giant Panda area where Jia Jia and Kai Kai is!

Super cute pair of Red Raccoons!!!

What they eat.

I think this is Kai Kai. He was asleep when we were there. Boooo. In the enclosure it’s important to keep really quiet cos the Pandas are very sensitive to noise. We didn’t get to see Jia Jia cos she was in her shelter.

Saw this lonely turtle (?) swimming in the river… How did it get there??

Our last stop was the Amazon Flooded Forest. This should be the place where most people stay the longest cos it’s air-conditioned!!!

Piranhas! They look quite harmless actually, who would have guessed that these are actually deadly.

Can anyone tell me what this is??

Giant aquarium inside. There’s a huge seating space for you to seat, relax your mind and watch the world go by. Pretty therapeutic.

I think this is a Manatee?

Information board telling you how to differentiate a Manatee from a Dugong.

Super greedy fellows.

Overall, I think that River Safari is worth a trip, somewhere you should visit if you haven’t been there before. Pretty interesting animals and sea creatures that I’ve never seen before! And it’s also great for people like me who haven’t been to the Zoo/Bird Park for ages!

Ending off with a cute picture!!

Me and my cousins! HAHA.
