These days, graphic designer Jonathan Lawrence has noticed, there’s a lack of design in USA license plates. The designer from Atlanta took it upon himself to co-ordinate 50 different artists in order to create new designs for each of the states’ license plates. The new versions feature illustrations designed especially for each state, as well as modern typography and carefully chosen colours, and were an attempt to go back to old fashioned and classier principles. Lawrence chose designers from each state, in such a way that each designer was passionate about their particular project. For the time being, the project is only available to see online, but Lawrence dreams of bringing the new license plate designs to life one day.
