When it comes to spring nails, for the most part, they are traditionally of the pastel variety, well this spring, Essie is shaking things up with its Spring 2016 collection inspired by the paradise escape of Florida with its limited edition range of light, bright and even bold, rich colours, from vibrant oranges to a rich green, and even a gorgeous dusky teal blue, which has instantly become my new favourite nail varnish colour.
I have, to be honest, I never think of nail varnishes as seasonal, OK, maybe I do opt for darker hues in winter, but generally, I go for darker colours anyway, which is probably why the teal blue, named Pool Side Service attracted me straight away. I have a love for Essie, the brush makes doing your own nails so easy and this gorgeous colour was a dream as it only needed one coat, and I love how shiny it is. Plus, any nail varnish that gets as many compliments as this beauty has given me over the past few days deserves a lot of praise.
The other colours that I’m loving has to be the blush nude, I know, I just said that the bolder, rich colours were my jam, but there’s something about High Class Affair and its soft apricot vibe that I love, it’s what I call goes with everything nail colour, perfect for a holiday. Then we have the vibrant Lounge Lover, which is basically just a pretty pink-peach, which FYI is currently making my toes look amazing, and I have to say I was impressed with the uber-bright vibe of Sunshine State of Mind, which just instantly brings a little sunshine to your nails.
The two colours that I’m not loving has to be Off Tropic, a rich green hue, I like dark, but dark green has never really been my thing, and the purple, Shades On, is just a little boring, compared to the others. However, when you pair the purple with Lounge Lover it does perk it up a little, in a retro 90s kind of way.
Which colours from the Essie Spring Collection 2016 are you liking?
Essie Spring Collection 2016, L-R: Pool Side Service (a cerulean blue); Lounge Lover (coral); Shades On (purple); Sunshine State of Mind (bright tangerine orange); Off Tropic (rich green); and High Class Affair (a blush nude).
