This month as a summary has been awesome. More energy than I think I’ve ever seen in my life in each day, snowballing progression, and the feeling of happiness and motivation paving the way through any and all negative.
Saturdays are my pregnancy markers when it comes to milestones and weeks passed (I love it because I get to celebrate the day and daydream of being that much closer to meeting little man). This week we just passed the 5 and a half month mark, and it’s definitely starting to show. Simple regularities like bending over to put shoes on are becoming a bit more of a strain, and little one is kicking up a storm day and night. Never before have I craved sugar so badly, and I secretly adore not having to have bought any maternity gear as of yet (even when that means leaving the house in leggings and my mans dress shirts).
Favorite things about being pregnant thus far:
Great coffee and tea taste amazing, I’ve never felt more beautiful in my life, endless energy, how much I enjoy making and maintaining things at home (I’ve been domesticated!), bundled up walks/waddles in the cold (hand in hand with the man), maple cookies!
Slightly less favorable things about being pregnant thus far:
The background paranoia that follows me with everything I eat, nightly nightmares and night frights (I’ve never been more afraid of the dark), food sensitivities, heartburn, pinched nerves, not being able to take piping hot showers/baths, no ham and dijon sandwiches from my favorite place down the street (a lengthy reunion will be in store all next summer)…
If there’s one thing I’d consider the most important during this time (that can help make all the difference as to whether or not you enjoy these 9 months, or drag them on), it’s taking care of yourself and indulging in little spoils. Never before has beauty played a bigger role in how I feel. A great scrub, oil-infused bath, or eucalyptus-steamed shower can make all the difference in your day (or night). Yesterday I stocked up on an oat milk bath infusion, gave myself a garlic face mask, waxed, and touched up my hair with an at-home dye job. Today, although not yet done my little DIY spa excursion, I feel amazingly rested. Tonight I tackle a mani/pedi while I broil some potatoes and asparagus!
Been favoring eating at home over going out lately (making outings much more exciting as a result), and have revisited my love of amazing Vietnamese Tonkinoise chicken noodle soup twice now. The shrimp spring rolls and iced lychee dessert makes for the perfect intro/outro to the meal. The smell of the soup broth is just intoxicating… especially on these cold rainy nights we’ve been having.
I’ve raved about the Weleda Almond line for a while now, but just recently got introduced to their facial oil through the man’s mom. With sensitive skin that has it’s problematic acne tendencies, you’d think this product would lay it on too thick. Opposite. Not only has it helped significantly with discoloration and redness, it’s soothing properties are ideal for the harsh coming months (and has actually suppressed breakouts). Skin food at it’s finest.
Dropped in to see the RAD exhibit at Centre Phi last friday. Love his stuff, love where he’s going, and applaud his international appeal – but was disappointed there wasn’t much to take in at the event. I was dying to see the clothes on mannequins, interactivity (there was one amazing jacket with cameras plugged in), and singled out demonstrations of his work. No such luck, and a little too one dimensional to keep me there for long. I did however, love browsing the popup shop and artwork within – great curation.
At home the the man has started painting my belly (it’s now big enough to claim it’s own shape), and Piccolo leans on it like it’s her personal tabletop when we’re on the couch. Lots of couch and bed snuggles all around, and bottomless cups of tea are now in full effect in our household.
Started doing some drawings of wildlife for a baby book-to-be for little man. Sadly this eagles lifespan ended crumpled up (faulty pen smudge), but I’m hoping to get back into it and have something to show for this project by the time I go on maternity leave.
Loving all things space themed for itty bitty.
Had my first eggnog latte of the season this weekend, and as remembered, it was sheer magic (that nutmeg!). Looking forward to sipping many more in enchanted snowfalls…
Collaborating with Etsy this holiday season – can’t wait to show you what I’ll be paying forward!
Baby girl looked after me well when I was sick. Hanging out and bringing on the super sweet snuggles.
It was a no liner weekend (still getting used to seeing my face without it, but love how much lighter it looks). More experimentation to come.
Gearing up to try my neti pot…
Obsessed with the lovely smell of this De-Frizz conditioner…
Virgin caesars after dark!
