A spacious gallery in the heart of Paris played host to La Redoute’s Autumn/Winter 2015 Press Day – a bi-annual event that gives the press and bloggers a sneak peek of the forthcoming season’s trends. Audrey Rogers, Julia Lundin and Lydia Millen worked the camera in a photoshoot and the big fashion interview backstage; talking style icons, investment items and favourite French phrases.

The Big French Fashion Interview

In your opinion, which personality embodies the French style the best?

Lydia: For me it’s Christine Lagarde, she encapsulates chic and effortless style perfectly.

Audrey: Bridget Bardot, Jane Birkin; still very French but in a very effortless kind of way.

Julia: Isabel Marant – I just love boho chic.

For you, which clothing item / accessories are typical of the French touch?

Audrey: I would have to say a trench coat – it looks really good just on top of whatever they’re wearing.

Julia: I would say red lipstick and stripes. I think something about red lipstick and a stripey top is so French!

Lydia: Red lipstick, because it can dress up a black outfit or a colourful outfit.

What is the secret of the French “Je ne sais quoi”?

Julia: I would say chic, effortlessness, looking like they say Parisian women, they don’t really blow-dry hair, they don’t really spend much time on it but it always looks amazing!

Audrey: It’s not so much to hide or conceal anything; they just sort of embrace how they are naturally.

Lydia: The hair’s left tousled, undone and it just encapsulates Parisian style.

What is your favourite French word or expression?

Audrey: As an American who’s lived over here so long, I’ve found myself wearing things which were total ‘faux pas’ and had to learn along the way.

Lydia: ‘Noir’, just purely because I wear a lot of it so that’s my favourite.

Julia: Just describing everything that we said – ‘C’est magnifique’!
