It took me a long time to find a home I could call my own, it was also an expensive endeavour. So when it came to finally moving in and decorating, I knew I needed a plan.

I aimed to choose key pieces in a way that was both cost effective but dramatic in that they added to the interior scheme I wanted. You don’t need to spend fortunes to achieve a lovely home, it comes more down to smart shopping. I chose grey tones combined with solid monochromatic blacks and whites with a few pops of colour here and there. La Redoute is brimming with treasures of all kinds – and refreshingly quirky pieces too that add originality to the  home. So I wanted to share my key pieces, why I chose them and how they could work in your own space too.

Mohair Pillow Cases:

So soft but classic too – and very pinterest inspired. I find so many of the prettier pillow cases to be highly uncomfortable on a practical level. I like to get lost on my sofa, surrounded by snuggly things of all sorts – which is why mohair is probably my all time favourite texture. So deliciously soft and cosy too for the upcoming colder months.

Oversized Polka Dot Cushion:

I love black and white prints – and this dramatic cushion, large enough for sofa naps, is a nice contrast next to all the furry elements of living room. It’s also reversible in a way, meaning each side is a different print – so when you get tired of one print, just flip it around to the other side.

The furry rug:

Oh I love these – and they are so versatile, fling it on the floor as a rug or as a throw on the side of the sofa, it also doubles up wonderfully as a blanket.  I chose the classic white as it really brightens up my grey sofa. However should you have a  lighter sofa, a darker fur would look lovely. I find when it comes to interiors, opposites attract.

Light Bulb Vases:

I zealously fill my home with flowers. When I saw these lightbulb vases, I knew I had to have them – they are such an unexpected version of the otherwise rather dull standard vase. Being quite delicate I like to surround them with pretty clutter, like candles or jewellery I have lying around the house.

Pink Trunk:

Storage is always an important element to consider – and a fun way to incorporate some unexpected colours into your home. I chose a vibrant fuschia vintage inspired trunk  – and typically will display shoes or even plants on top – it’s also a practical piece, I can shove all sorts of stuff in here – thus keeping my home a little less messy.
