Google seems to have upped its game by introducing its new flagship Android phones- Google Pixel and Pixel XL. While some might call it a bad time for a new smartphone launch- with iPhone 7 occupying the spotlight, Google has not failed to make its presence noticed. In a few paragraphs, let’s find out how well the new phones have fared.
Price
Unfortunately, since it is rivaling iPhone and Samsung S7, Pixel is not going to be inexpensive. Right now, the smaller variant is pegged at 57k in India and the XL model starts from 67k for the 32GB version. But for all that the phone has in store, you might not feel too bad for burning a hole in your pocket.
Android version 7.1
As of now, Google Pixel is the only Android phone that runs on Android Nougat 7.1 OS; the little tweaks owing to the latest Android version are prominent in the phone. It runs on Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 processor and 4 gigs of RAM. It is also the phone to debut Google’s messaging service Allo and video calling app Duo. Google has introduced the long-press feature that enables you to open additional menu for each app.
“the best smartphone camera anyone has ever made”
Yes, Google has gone as far as to make the above statement. While it sounds like a tall claim, Google isn’t too far off the mark. The phone features a 12.3 mp camera with a negligible shutter lag, and the best part is, you can launch the app by giving your arm a couple of twists, like you could do with the good ol’ Motorola. The one cause of worry could be the absence of Optical Image Stabilization. Otherwise, with auto HDR, Pixel has a pretty high end camera.
Google Assistant
Now this is something to be excited about. Google’s search bot can give Siri a run for its money, and that’s saying something. Google Assistant is very conversational and it even has a memory. You can even ask follow-up questions, and it won’t be caught off guard. Also, it can hear you pretty accurately and is very interactive.
Go for this phone if you have lost the appetite for explosive phones but still wish to stick with Android.
