With the final Double Gameweek of the season upon us, we look at each team and pluck out a star pick ahead of the week that’s likely to make or break your FPL season. Here’s your Gameweek 37 Preview:

Arsenal

The Gunners have pretty much sealed that 4th place trophy for another year, well done for that. A win here against a West Brom side that realistically should now be safe after last week’s result would mathematically mean that Arsenal will seal Champions League (playoff) qualification. It is difficult to see past a home win for Arsenal this week, and a comfortable one at that.

Star Pick – Aaron Ramsey

Back to fitness and back in form, the midfielder has looked to get forward wherever possible, looking a real possibility for both goals and assists.

Aston Villa

Villa have a double gameweek this week, but this is by no means a guarantee of points. Their second game is away to Manchester City and as such the weekend game against Hull City is crucial. The Villains have been dragged back down into the relegation mixer and a loss to Hull would see them separated from the drop only by goal difference. In all likelihood, they will pick up points against a Hull side already eyeing up the cup final, however, collecting those points in style is pretty unlikely.

Star Pick – Gabby Agbonlahor

Hardly prolific, but his pace could cause problems on the break.

Cardiff City

Cardiff will be thankful for small mercies this week – yes they now really need a win to stand a chance of staying up, but if they could pick a team to play it would probably be Newcastle United. Despite this, it’s still best to avoid their players this week considering there are similarly priced double gameweek players out there.

Star Pick – Jordon Mutch

Cheap and as good an option as any. Down as a midfielder so may sneak a clean sheet point on top of any goals or assists.

Chelsea

Safe to say I think everybody has had heard their fair share of bus gags following the Liverpool and Atletico games, so I’ll park the puns for now. The Blues will need to show some character to pick themselves back up following semi-final defeat, however a home fixture against a poor Norwich side could be just the tonic. Just a couple of domestic games left means that rotation is no longer really a factor and as such managers should load up on the obvious choices.

Star Pick – Eden Hazard

Time for the Belgian to start producing the points again.

Crystal Palace

Tony Pulis has performed wonders at Palace with the same players that were rooted to the foot of the table. They are now safe but their defence is still a good cheap option. However, this week sees them host Liverpool so perhaps now is the team to rotate Palace players to the bench.

Star Pick – Joel Ward

Who knows, if City beat Everton, Liverpool could turn up pretty dejected and run out of ideas.

Everton

So near but yet so far for Everton, their Champions League hopes appearing all but over after a couple of dodgy results in recent weeks. They do have a fantastic record against Man City, particularly at home, but with The Citizens going for the title they should have too much power this time. Despite the conspiracy theories, Everton will not throw the towel in to prevent doing Liverpool a favour and their usual suspects still have a shout at points.

Star Pick – Seamus Coleman

The young fullback could well end the season like he started it. Own goal aside, the Irishman has performed consistently all season – there is no reason to suspect he won’t cause the City defence headaches this week.

Fulham

A bitter blow throwing away a 2 goal lead last week, The Cottagers are still rooted in trouble. Although they face a Stoke City side playing for nothing they will still struggle and I refuse to believe that anybody is actually considering transferring one of their players in.

Star Pick – Sascha Riether

Cross your fingers and pray for another boring Stoke 0-0.

Hull City

Despite a double game week it is best to avoid Hull players here. They will be beaten by Manchester United in their second game anyway and already have an eye on the cup final so will be going through the motions.

Star Pick – Curtis Davies

2 games gives a double chance for a cheeky clean sheet.

Liverpool

The Reds need a massive favour from their neighbours in order to truly put the title back in their own hands (assuming they don’t outscore City by 8 goals in the next 2 weeks). They have the firepower to run havoc against Palace, so long as they score early and don’t become frustrated. No prizes for guessing who the most likely point scorers are.

Star Pick – Raheem Sterling

Just for a change from Luis Suarez really. In reality, Suarez, Sturridge, Gerrard, Sterling and even Coutinho are all worthy picks.

Manchester City

City looked imperious against Palace having been buoyed by the Chelsea defeat of Liverpool. However, evidence from a couple of years ago indicates that they are not beyond a touch of the title jitters themselves. Similarly to Liverpool, with just 3 games left and no real need for rotatin, no prizes are awarded for guessing the top performers.

Star Pick – Yaya Toure

Edging out Sergio Aguero based on the fact he is less likely to suffer a recurrence of any injury and miss value double gameweek minutes.

Manchester United

Ryan Giggs the saviour managed to defeat the mighty Norwich City at home last week, what a hero. Realistically David Moyes would also have won that game, but nevermind, let’s move on. United should rack up 6 points and plenty of goals here, making Juan Mata and Wayne Rooney popular transfers.

Star Pick – Juan Mata

It was Rooney, but since his injury news it’s now Mata. Two goals in half an hour from the bench means he’ll start this weekend, and he’s clearly a man in form.

Newcastle United

Nope, nothing constructive can be mustered about The Magpies at the minute.

Star Pick – Thomas Cook

They’ve been on their holidays for months. Apart from that they might get a goal this week so have a look at Loic Remy.

Norwich City

The end could be nigh for The Canaries. Already now in the relegation zone and with Chelsea and Arsenal as their last two fixtures. They conceded too many goals and don’t score enough. Avoid.

Star Pick – John Ruddy

At least he may get points for sheer volume of saves – he’ll certainly be busy.

Southampton

Fair play to The Saints, having had nothing to play for since February they have still dug in and ground out some good results. They will give Swansea a tough match and it is difficult not to see them scoring. Clean sheets on the other hand, pretty unlikely this week as The Swans could fly out at them.

Star Pick – Adam Lallana

Wrap him up in cotton wool and ship him to Brazil would be preferable. Failing that, play him and keep his form going right till the end.

Stoke City

The Potters are an improvement on their former “rugby” selves, but still love a bore draw at home. With nothing left to play for the safe money is on another possible 0-0 and as a result their defenders are again the best choice.

Star Pick – Peter Crouch

Stoke are decent at home, and if anyone will gbag some points you’d tend to look to the big man, but chances are you’ll be looking at better options this week.

Sunderland

By some miracle Sunderland are no longer in the relegation zone. Massive results away at Chelsea and Man City should have given them a huge lift, made evident by thumping of fellow strugglers Cardiff last week. Their defence is pretty poor and shouldn’t be relied on for points, but going forward there are a few decent differentials to pick from.

Star Pick – Adam Johnson

Can cause havoc on his day.

Swansea City

A very poor season for the Welsh club, gaining safety from relegation only at the end of April. They could well take their foot off the gas again now they are safe and should probably be avoided.

Star Pick – Wilfried Bony

As likely as anybody to bag a goal.

Tottenham Hotspur

Their opponents this week have had the measure of them a few times this season. With this in mind, perhaps it is best to approach the use of their players with caution, especially when considering that their only ambition is a slim chance of 5th, spurred on by a manager everybody knows isn’t going to be there next season.

Star Pick – Christian Eriksen

Has blown hot and cold since his arrival at Spurs but does have good vision and takes a mean free kick.

West Bromwich Albion

Despite having two games it is difficult to see them registering many fantasy points. Cheap double gameweek players are best sourced elsewhere.

Star Pick – Morgan Amalfitano

Flirting with assist and goal points in recent weeks, he is a decent differential.

West Ham United

Not really anything to play for, but that shouldn’t really matter in a London derby. The Hammers have had good results against Spurs this season and that could easily continue. Their defence is pretty tight and can be taken a gamble on, whilst their attack should be decent if Andy Carroll ever decides to pull his finger out.

Star Pick – Guy Demel

A fair chance of a clean sheet, which is more reliable than Carroll.
