FFPundits Chris returns with his Gameweek 32 Captaincy Analysis article ahead of the FPL Gameweek 32

Could this be the big one, crunch time, the season make or break? Time will tell, although the fixtures do certainly look set up for fantasy managers to score highly so long as they get the right combination of players from top teams. The Manchester derby aside, most of the top 7 appear to have fixtures that are very winnable and therefore there are an abundance of captain picks available (with this in mind, don’t cry if I haven’t mentioned yours…it’s not possible to mention every player!).

Captain Material

Alexis Sanchez – Not in his best form but a goal and assist against Liverpool may well spark him back into life. Away to Burnley he could have ample opportunity so long as The Gunners play at the same level as last week.

Loic Remy – Scored in each of his last 2 appearances despite them containing a combined total of just 78 minutes of football. Has proved at both Newcastle and Chelsea that he is a proven goalscorer and should convert at least one of the many chances likely to fall Chelsea’s way against a poor QPR.

Wayne Rooney – A poor season by his standards but he has improved since changing position. The derby could be wide open if there is an early goal and Rooney may step up.

Philippe Coutinho – His fine form has led to the inevitable links to Manchester City. Another goal in midweek and a home tie against Newcastle United should give him chance for more points. Liverpool are heavily reliant on him to create everything at present so he should feature prominently.

Captain Disaster

Daniel Sturridge – Hasn’t managed to gain top form since returning from injuries and appears to be too desperate to make up for lost time, often trying to do too much and making the wrong decision. He still has 2 in his last 3 starts, but certainly doesn’t seem the sure bet of last season.

The Picks

Harry Kane – Pessimists will point to 2 blanks in his last 4. However, he has bounced back from his last 2 blanks with 2 goals and 3 goals respectively. Aston Villa at home should provide the opportunity to do the same. It’s also worth noting that is was against Aston Villa back on the 2nd of November 2014 that Harry Kane scored his first Premier League goal of the season, having featuring for only 33 minutes. He also bagged 3 bonus points and cost a measly £4.8m… Oh how thing’s have changes for the England new-boy.

Eden Hazard – 4 goals and 3 assists in his last 8 games, it’s easy to see why the playmaker is the games highest scorer by a distance. He often takes the smaller sides apart and could have a field day against QPR, like he did back on November the 1st 2014 at Stamford Bridge, scoring 1 goal and grabbing 3 deserved bonus points. With the absence of Diego Costa through injury, Loic Remy is likely to lead the Chelsea line this weekend, but, Eden looks to be the man who can ensure things happen and make his creative presence have a big impact on Chelsea’s attacking play.

The Gamble

3. Olivier Giroud – Having scored in each of his last 7 league games he is in red hot form. The gamble aspect purely comes in because very few players manage to keep a scoring run going much longer so a blank could be ’round the corner. It’s also worth noting that Burnley have managed to keep two clean sheets in their last three Premier League fixtures; this included a 1-0 win at Manchester City and 0-0 draw with Spurs which has to be respected.

The best of luck to all Fantasy Premier League managers this weekend with your Gameweek 32 captaincy selections.
