I virtually attended a webinar last week about the upcoming holiday shopping season and learned that one of the fastest growing shopping trends is retailers offering shoppers the ability buy online and pick up their orders in-store.

This offers flexibility for anyone who enjoys shopping online but doesn’t like waiting for orders to ship OR paying for shipping.

In a very specific situation, I took advantage of Walmart offering this option last year when I purchased a bike for my sister’s birthday. I didn’t want to ship it to her because then she would have needed top put it together, so instead I ordered the bike she wanted and she was able to pick it up from her nearest Walmart in just a few hours. It was really convenient!

If this is your new preferred method of shopping, I have two bits of news for you:

First, I have been compiling a list of stores offering the option to buy online pick-up in store. I think this method of shopping could come in very handy on Cyber Monday!

Second, if choose “pick up in store” as your shipping order at Target.com and spend $75+, you will get $10 off your purchase! This offer is valid through October 17, 2015. To take advantage of this offer the entire purchase must be placed and paid for online.

Some exclusions do apply: Offer excludes all gift cards, prepaid cards (airtime, entertainment, iTunes, and online gaming), LEGO, Elf on the Shelf, Vitamix, DSLR cameras and lenses, Google Chromecast, Apple, Bose, PlayStation 4 console, Xbox One console, Nintendo consoles, Sonos, Go-Pro, alcohol, diabetic glucometers & lancets, Clearance, Cuisinart Kitchen Appliances, Calphalon Contemporary and select registry only brands.

What do you think about this hybrid shopping option? With more stores rolling it out as an option this year, do you think you’ll be shopping online but then heading out to the store to pick up your order?
