Commemorating Queen Victoria’s Birthday, wishing the best to our Canadian readers!!!!  And yes, had to get Niagara Falls in this gif!

From Wiki

Victoria Day (in French: Fête de la Reine) is a federal Canadian public holiday celebrated on the last Monday before May 25, in honour of Queen Victoria’s birthday. The date is also, simultaneously, that on which the current reigning Canadian sovereign’s official birthday is recognized. It is sometimes informally considered as marking the beginning of the summer season in Canada (Pastel’s ed: you BET it is!), analogous to how the timing of the holiday Memorial Day is regarded in the United States.

A Cappella Group covers David Archuleta!

Hopkins’ Octopodes produce all-original a cappella album

By Brandi Bottalico, The Baltimore Sun

Updated May 16, 2014

The Johns Hopkins University Octopodes list among their credits crisp a cappella renditions of Miley Cyrus’ “Wrecking Ball,” “Paparazzi” by Lady Gaga and “In this Moment” by David Archuleta. A fan asked them to perform the Beatles’ “Hey Jude” as part of an elaborate marriage proposal. No problem.

But when the 14-member vocals-only group piped up at a recent rehearsal to practice an original song, some difficulty was apparent. The singers stumbled at points as they sang “I Won’t Wait,” a love song written by senior international studies major Duncan Crystal. They stopped, readjusted and started again.

Read the rest of the article here.

They covered In This Moment?  REALLY?  I posted my favourite YouTube vid of In this Moment last week on Tueday, after the Ryan Seacrest Poll.  It’s really been a In This Moment week around here!

A quick YouTube search found it!  REALLY NICE!!!  I apologize if this was posted before.  The lead singer really sounds like David, doesn’t he?

And Kari Tweets!

Kari is just sooooo awesome for staying connected with David’s fans.  I really can’t imagine many others doing this while working somewhere else.

And that connection came yesterday with a middle-of-the-night (for us) tweetfest from Kari.  And since I only get tweets from Kari and David on my phone, and David isn’t tweeting in the middle of the night on a Sunday, I woke up to some awesome tweets by Kari!  Here are a few!

Awww, Kari tweets her mom!!!

And yes, you can still send mail!!!

So there you have it.  In a matter of an hour or so, we got some great updates from Kari, and confirmation that she is here for us always.  And for David.  Not that this was ever in doubt but pretty cool of her to do that.

Now go enjoy that pool Kari!

2 Home Run Performances

(From Joanie’s post in May 2011)   News came from the Dodgers twitter account yesterday afternoon that David Archuleta would be singing the National Anthem as well as God Bless America at the MLB game  between the Los Angeles Dodgers and the Milwaukee Brewers. Word spread quickly through David’s fanbase, and soon there were “go-getters” on  their way to support, and enjoy David singing live in LA. After all, I think it’s an established fact that no one sings The National Anthem better than David Archuleta, and combined with his heartfelt rendition of God Bless America, it’s a double home run!! Thank you to @Marthazz, @Monica2112, @Fanscene, @Larissa_SG and @Janey79 for your tweets, videos, twitpics, and to Janey for “saving” us cyber-scrambling fans to find a link to catch David performing God Bless America live. (The NA although not  broadcasted, was recorded by Marthazz~yay!)

From Last year’s post ~ A  David Triad

If you had to put together your own personal time David-related time capsule, and you could only put in one picture, one video and one written message from David, what would you chose?

This is an impossible question to answer, right?  We have 5000 pictures, give or take, in our media library.  How do you pick one?  Or one performance video, interview or vlog?  Or one quote?  Ridiculous!

A picture.

On David’s only day off in Manila, he chooses to go to meet children at one of his favourite charities.  The natural smile while chatting with the children is defining, as well as the cause.

A video.

I didn’t pick a performance video, because it’s just too hard.  This is a defining interview for me.  Early in the Idol tour, this interviewer didn’t ask about girlfriends, or what Simon was like and how it felt to be Idol runner up.  She just let David talk, and talk he did.   And we got an early glimpse at his musical leanings.  I found this interview laced with moments of  innocence, while being profound at the same time.

A thought.

Unwavering commitment (2014 insert ~ that commitment is still there!)

I picked this excerpt from the liner notes from No Matter How Far.

“This is my thanks to your for everything in the past, present and future.  That No Matter How Far, what was in the heart is still here, and will be here when I return.”

And I believe this to be true

Ending with a nice “Let’s Do This” collage, referring to the comment from David in his last tweet:

Vacation day for me!  Off to do stuff here, but more David stuff from me tomorrow.

Make sure to comment on that In This Moment vid!!!  Give those guys some Archiekin love!

See you tomorrow!
