I’ve always been fascinated by deserts. I’ve seen quite a few since I’m a kid, in South America or North Africa especially, where I traveled when I was a kid. But my fascination for desert really comes from westerns… As a kid, my parents used to show me tons of them. My hero was Clint Eastwood, without any hesitation. The movies from my childhood are Pale Rider, High Plains Drifter, For a Few Dollars More or Butch Cassidy & The Sundance Kid (without Clint though, but still really awesome !). I could watch them in a row, I was just fascinated by the landscapes, the loyalty and bandits stories, the horses running like crazy in those big dusty plains, and Clint Eastwood of course, whom I’m in love with since I’m like 5… I can completely picture myself sitting in the deserted pub of my parents friend with my brother, obsessed by the finale scene from A Fistful of Dollars, waiting to see who from Joe and Ramon was going to die. So yeah, westerns are really dear to my heart, there was even a time when I always received new DVDs for Christmas, and I was so happy to discover new movies !
So, when I learned about the Bardenas Reales desert in Spain, 2 hours away from the French border and where all the westerns that are lacking budget for the US are being shot, I got crazy and planned our little road trip in a day. It was two weeks ago, and it’s one of the most beautiful place I’ve ever seen ! Of course, we had to shoot an outfit there, the landscape was way too beautiful too pass up ! So here it is today, with a little foretaste of the place, because I’ll be back on thursday with a vlog, lots of pictures and many good places to see there ! I hope it’ll make you want to go and check this place yourself !
