If NFL officials decide to switch dates for Super Bowl XLVIII due to severe winter weather conditions, it will affect the UFC’s event that weekend.

UFC 169 is scheduled to take place Feb. 1 at the Prudential Center in Newark, N.J., one day prior to the Super Bowl, but the organization will shift the event to Feb. 2 if the NFL’s championship game is moved to Feb. 1.

UFC officials revealed their contingency plan following the UFC on FOX 10 event Saturday night in Chicago.

Super Bowl XLVIII will take place at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, N.J., and feature the Seattle Seahawks and Denver Broncos.

Earlier in the week, UFC president Dana White told reporters that he and the UFC had no desire to go up against the Super Bowl if the game was moved.

“Yeah, that would hurt,” White said. “If 120 million people are watching the Super Bowl on Saturday, that would, yeah, let’s just hope that doesn’t happen.”

UFC 169 is headlined by a bantamweight championship bout between Renan Barao and Urijah Faber. It also features a featherweight title bout between Jose Aldo and Ricardo Lamas.
