Eugenie Bouchard’s incredible run at Wimbledon came to a crashing halt, in a 6-3, 6-0 loss to Petra Kvitova.

Bouchard would have become the first Canadian to capture the prestigious tournament.

It was evident from the beginning that Bouchard had the support of the entire nation.

Final warm-up serves, and then it's on for a Wimbledon title. A Canadian named after a princess, @allthingsregal. Who would have imagined?

Not in Canada, still watching Genie. pic.twitter.com/98LBnT5qKL

However, Kvitova put on a masterful display in the first set and it was apparent that she was the more composed of the two players.

Winners were 17-5 Kvitova in the first set.

Bouchard has lost her composure and is unraveling. We haven't quite seen this in her young, pro career. All part of learning what it takes.

— Arash Madani (@ArashMadani) July 5, 2014

Tough to see Bouchard struggling so much with her service game. Kvitova needs to be broken soon or it's over #Wimbledon2014

The two-time champion never let up and was dominant from start to finish.

Kvitova's defense today is a cross court winner. So good luck with that.

No shame in losing to a more experienced, former champion. Also have to admit Genie seems overwhelmed by the occasion. Understandable.

Hitting the ball hard is one thing, but hitting it this heavy and this accurate in a @Wimbledon final is absurd…unstoppable!! #Kvitova

— Mahesh Bhupathi (@Maheshbhupathi) July 5, 2014

Bouchard and Raonic prove: it's one thing to SAY you are ready for the big moment. It's another to be ready. Kvitova: wow.

The clinic is mercilessly over. Petra Kvitova captures her second Wimbledon championship in four years, defeating Eugenie Bouchard 6-3, 6-0.

— Arash Madani (@ArashMadani) July 5, 2014

It took 55 minutes for Kvitova. Dominant and comprehensive.

Petra Kvitova beat Eugenie Bouchard 6-3, 6-0 to win her second Wimbledon title.
With the loss, Bouchard will now be ranked 7th in the world.

Powerful play by Petra #Kvitova: 28 winners, 4 aces & she won 82% of points when she got first serve in vs #Bouchard pic.twitter.com/Cq0qduC1Tm

Kvitova d. Bouchard 63 60 to win 2nd @Wimbledon title, the fewest games dropped in a #Wimbledon final since 1992 (Graf d. Seles 62 61)

After winning the match, an exuberant Kvitova celebrated on the court:

Despite the loss, Bouchard has an exceptionally bright future ahead of her and Canada is still proud of the 2014 Wimbledon finalist.

Dismayed to see her throttled so mercilessly but still a terrific tournament for Canadian Genie Bouchard #Wimbledon2014 #GenieArmy

— Adnan Virk, ESPN (@adnanESPN) July 5, 2014

Canada should be incredibly proud of Eugenie Bouchard.
