<center>'''GEORGE SHARPE, 85 years.'''</center>

Camden has lost another old and highly respected citizen, Mr. George Sharpe died on Tuesday, 29th inst. at his risidence "Wickham Fields," in his 86th year. Mr. Sharpe, with his many years of colonial life, was an Englishman to the backbone, and was the proud possessor of the Crimean War Medal with the Sebasterpool bar, having served in the Royal Marines in that war in 1855; he was on his way with the Navy to the Baltic when peace was declared. His birth place was Bishopstorford, England, but he gave his young life to seafaring work, and after the war referred to he journeyed with the British Navy to Rio Jenerio. On returning thence to England he declared for a new life, and set out for Australia, still a young man. His first place of labor in this country was at Raby with the late Mr. Edward Moore, and was mainly employed with travelling stock; on one occasion travelling as far as Melbourne by road and track. Leaving this roaming life he was employed by the late Robert Loomes at The Oaks, only later to start farming and dairying on his own account at North Cawdor, on the farm now owned by Mr. V. Thurn. Subsequently he became manager of May Farm for the late Alfred Bennett; from thence he look up land at Mowbray Park in the Picton district, but only to come back to May Farm and his present home nearby, where he resided the last 18 years of his life. The deceased gentleman was a staunch member of the Sons of Temperance, being the oldest member of the Camden branch. He was twice married, his first wife was a Miss Loomes; his second Miss Latty, both local families. He had seven in his first family, and six in the second. He now leaves a widow, six sons and two daughters; these are Mr. James, Gore Hill; Mr. Alex, Taralga; Mr. Robert, Granville; Mr. Harry, Neutral Bay; Misses Martha and May; Mr. Thomas, and Mr. Benjamin of Camden. There are 17 grand children. Two of his sons, Messrs. Robert and Harry, served in the Boer War. The funeral takes place to-day (Thursday).
