Riviere Sands Holiday Park

Standing looking down across St Ives Bay you can understand why many claim these beaches are the most beautiful in the country. Riviere Sands is a small and cosy holiday park that offers visitors the very best that Cornwall has to offer. This part of Cornwall is a mecca for suffers and great access to the beach (just a short walk though the dunes) means it is perfect for experienced surfers as well as those looking to try the sport out. The wonderful Cornish scenery and coastal walks make a perfect holiday destination for families.  Set between the Lizard Point (the most southerly part of the UK) and Lands End (the most westerly) Riviere Sands is a perfect base for exploring the pretty fishing villages and attractions there are to be seen in this part of Cornwall.

Visitors staying on the park have a good choice of accommodation that suits all family sizes and every budget. Staying in caravans with either two or three bedrooms there is room for up to eight people. Two or three bed roomed, with a double room and at least one twin room there is also comfortable sleeping for two on sofa beds in the well fitted lounges.

Caravans come in a variety of grades, each having different amounts of space and higher standards of fitting. The Summer House range of caravans are themed with coastal style furnishings, clapboard exteriors and glass patio doors giving a bright sunny exterior  really  add an extra dimension to a family holiday. Some caravans are placed to give breathtaking views across the bay and are available for a small premium. Riviere Sands also has a range of caravans that have been designed with wheel chair users of users with guide dogs and other registered assistance dogs in mind.

Facilities & Activities at Haven Cala Gran

Without doubt, the beach and the surf will be major attractions for the children (and Mum and Dad as well). If you are an expert – surfs up!  If you are a beginner, there are even classes available to help you make the most of this spectacular beach.

If you prefer your water action closer to home – and who can blame you with these pools – there are two heated pools to choose between. With fully qualified life guards on duty you can be sure the children are enjoying the water slides and the fresh air safely. If the weather is less than clement then there is the indoor pool, open between 10am and 6pm during peak season and 10am to 5pm off-peak. There are a range of water activities, some free, some paid for, available including confidence building fun for non-swimmers and water walkerz, aqua-jets and turbo paddlers for the more confident which make the pool fun at Riviere Sands a major draw.

There is also a range of sports activities on site for the ultra active. There is an Outdoor Fun Zone where you can play crazy golf, and you can also have a go at archery and fencing. You can also rent a kart which is perfect for exploring the park. Themed characters such as Anxious, Rory, Brand and Polly are also on hand to provide extra entertainment throughout the day, popping up when the kids least expect them.

Even Mum and Dad need some down time on holiday which is where the Kids Clubs come in. Four different clubs, aimed at four different age ranges, 0 – 4, 5 – 8, 9 – 12 and 13 plus mean that kids can join in and make new friends in a safe and controlled environment. Activities include sports, arts and crafts and music and will be sure to be the highlight of the children’s stay.

Feeding the family is easy at Riviere Sands. The site has its own SPAR convenience shop so you can easily stock up on everything you need for great family meals together. You might want to take a break from the food routine and eat out occasionally. The Bluff Inn Cafe Bar and Grill looks out across St Ives Bay and provides a perfect backdrop for a tasty meal whatever time of day. If it’s a seaside holiday fish and chips have to be eaten and there is a traditional fish and chip shop serving sustainably caught fish with proper chunky chips. You can also eat in Coast, the sites new Cornish style cafe. Great food and drink in a typically relaxed Cornish environment – look out for the Cornish pasty door handles.

There is also plenty to keep the family entertained outside the site. Pretty fishing villages such as St Ives are peppered all along this part of the north Cornwall coast. Bodmin Moor is a complete change of scenery and perfect for a day out walking in the countryside. With waterfalls at Golitha and Lands End and the Lizard within easy distance there is plenty to keep the family amused.
