La Specola – a kid-friendly Natural History Museum (FLORENCE)

Welcome to the oldest scientific museum of Europe. Florence’s Museum of Zoology and Natural History, best know as La Specola (“observatory” in Italian) is not only a fascinating museum for children and parents, but it is also a historical one, with parts of its collection dating back to the 17th century and the Medici Family. Opened in 1775, it was the first and only scientific museum where the public could admire natural curiosities such as stuffed animals, minerals, plants and fossils.
