A/N I saw this request prompt and knew I had to take a stab at it. Katie’s “half a drink in” song. Hope you enjoy!

Katie POV

“Alright everyone that’s a wrap! Season 2B is complete thanks to all you beautifully talented people! It’s time to celebrate so everyone drinks are on me tonight, enjoy! ” Carter says to the whole faking it cast and members.

Wow I can’t believe the second season is complete already. And now we get to celebrate together at this fancy dance club Carter snagged. I had so much fun making this season with my faking it family. We really are like family around here, everyone gets along and no drama, thank God.

“Hey Katie over here!” Michael waves me over to the bar next to the dance floor and DJ booth.

I give him the 1 min signal with my finger as I make my way over squeezing between all the extra cast members and staff. I finally reach the bar when Michael grabs me by the shoulders bringing me closer and hugging me tightly.
“we did it Katie, yay the fans are gonna love it!” Michael says excitingly.
“I…. Can’t….. Breathe… ” i manage to breathe out under his embrace.
“oh sorry haha. Come have a drink with us!” he directs me to the bar where Rita, Gregg, Bailey, Yvette, Keith and Skylar are standing around conversing with one another.
“hey guys sorry I was late getting here I wish I could have seen the last few takes of the show but duty called in Nashville” I said.

I was in Nashville working on my upcoming country album. I had a blast working with the other song writers and creating new music but I missed my faking it family. I couldn’t wait to fly in and party hard with them. We deserved it.

Rita comes over to give me a gentle hug. “hey stranger I missed you. ” she whispers in my ear.

I don’t know why but her warm breathe on my ear made me gasp. “hey I missed you too buttface.” I shoot back hugging her tighter.

“let’s get a drink huh?” Rita suggests.

“sure why not” I shrug.

“I’ll take a Manhattan straight and Katie you’ll get…..a whiskey sour on the rocks? ” she looks at me questioning her choice.

I nod my head letting her know she got the right drink. How she remembers what I love to drink is unbelievable. Rita is the closest I’ve had to a best friend in years, it’s nice to know I have someone there for me. Paul and I recently broke up and it’s been a rough couple of weeks. I don’t know what I would have done without her.

“would you like a cherry in your whiskey sour miss? ” the bartender raises his eyebrow looking at me.

“Yes Katie would most definitely like a cherry in her drink” Rita quips. She examines my face with a smirk playing on her lips as she winks at me.

I blush and turn my head away but Rita notices my nervousness. How does she do this to me? She always seems to be able to get me flustered. Damn it Rita.

Rita smiles at my awkwardness sweetly and looks at me with all the adoration in the world. It makes me melt inside.

“here’s your drinks girls” the bartender sets them down on the counter in front of us.

“Thanks” we both say in unison grabbing our glasses.
We look at each other with a knowing grin playing on our lips.
“jinx!”
“double jinx!”
“jinx again” we both say
at exactly the same time, laughing at our immaturity.

Me And Rita just synchronize really well together. I don’t know when it started but I’ve been feeling like there is something more for us than friendship. I can’t wait to see where the night leads.

We gingerly take sips of our drinks then head over to the table with everybody else.

It’s just Gregg and Keith left as we take seats across from them. They were conversing about different methods of acting. Wildly animating their points to one another about which is the best.

Yvette had made her way to the DJ booth. She learned a thing or two about it on set and was a surprisingly good DJ.

Bailey, Duke and Michael were on the dance floor swinging their hips to the sick beat Yvette was spinning. As was most of the other faking it members, even Carter!

Me And Rita watched them all make fools of themselves dancing around each other. Only sipping our drinks every now and then between our laughing and banter.

“come on and dance with us guys! There’s plenty of room on the dance floor!” “we see you two staring” Michael boldly states as he absentmindedly grinds up against Skylar.

Rita nudges her shoulder with mine.

“hey you wanna show these fools how to really bust a move?” she wiggles her eyebrows, gets up and extends her hand out smirking at me.

“lets do this” I say as I grab onto her hand. She tugs me out of my chair and onto the dance floor. I feel electricity flowing through my viens with just the touch of our hands together.

Yvette abruptly stops the hypnotic beat she was playing and switches to a slower paced song.
Wait I know this song! It’s the new song I just wrote and released on YouTube! OMG!

“Hey it’s late and you look good
maybe I’m saying a little more than I should
Oh Your smile, those inviting eyes
makes me want to see where this could lead tonight
Am I wrong or does this feel right?”

“OMG it’s my song! Rita it’s my song!” I scream at her.

Rita doesn’t seemed phased by my screaming as she just brings me closer to her body. “I know” she says as she slides her hands down to my waist and starts swaying us to my song.

“Well we’re only half a drink in
And we’re already leaning in
Yeah you’re holding my hand and telling me this ain’t you”

My hands are so sweaty from nervousness as I wrap my arms around her neck.

A smile appeared on her lips.
“did I happen to mention that you look incredibly beautiful tonight?” shes stares at me.

“you’re staring” I feel myself blush again.

“like I said you are extremely gorgeous tonight, how can you blame me?” she says bringing her left hand from my waist to cup my cheek.

“Falling fast isn’t what you do
But I’m feeling it too
Cuz your not drunk and I’m not tipsy
Whatever this is can’t blame it on the whiskey”

I was feeling overwhelmed with butterflies fluttering around my stomach. I couldn’t even form words so I just smiled while gazing into her beautiful green eyes. I think I’m starting to fall for my best friend.

Rita POV

I lightly twirl Katie around the dance floor. She smiles and giggles back into me.

This night couldn’t be anymore perfect. I’ve loved Katie for a while now. Being there for her through her break up with Paul reminded me that she is the one for me. I’ve fallen for the sweetest girl on this planet and I couldn’t be any happier than in this moment. I need to tell her my true feelings because I need to know if she feels the way I do.

“Closing time came to fast
It’s been 2 hours since I last touched my glass
bands packing up
Lights turning on
were so wrapped up, everybody’s gone
were still here and we’re only half a drink in
we keep on leaning in
Yeah you’re holding my hand and telling me this ain’t you
Falling fast just isn’t what you do
But I’m feeling it too
Cuz your not drunk and I’m not tipsy
Whatever this is can’t blame it on the whiskey”

We are back to slowly swaying to the rhythm. Her one arm around my neck and the other around my back with her head in the crook of my neck.

I lay my head against hers and it makes me lightheaded. The smell of her hair is intoxicating my nostrils.

“Can’t blame it on the whiskey
Blame it on you
Blame it on me
but there’s no way to blame it on half a drink, half a drink in”

“Katie” I whisper softly near her ear. “I love you” with the slightest of breath.

She pulls her head away from my neck glancing up into my eyes. Her gorgeous blue orbs welling with tears as a smile crosses her features.

“I love you too buttface. I think I am…I’m in love with you” she whispers back.

“we keep on leaning in
Yeah you’re holding my hand and telling me this ain’t you
Falling fast isn’t what you do
But I’m feeling it too
Cuz your not drunk and I’m not tipsy
Whatever this is can’t blame it on the whiskey”

We lean our heads in slowly. It feels so good just holding Katie but when our lips brushed just the slightest it made my breath hitch. Her touch giving me a tingling sensation everywhere. I melted into her parted lips. Nobody kisses like Katie. Nobody.

“Can’t Blame it on the Whiskey”
