In this biz, Fashion Week is the biggest event on the calendar, so the release of the runway schedule is always a big massive deal in our books. We are now less than one month away from the frenzy of fashion, front rows, models and makeup that is Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Australia, with the yearly industry event to take place at Carriageworks in Sydney from Sunday, April 6 - Thursday, April 10.
The style spectacle will kick off on Sunday night with a showcase by Carla Zampatti, and will see fashion favourites like Alex Perry, Ellery, By Johnny, Ginger & Smart, Aje, Suboo, Maticevski and more local labels showcase their Spring/Summer 2014/2015 collections on the runway.
Notably absent from this year's official schedule are Camilla and Marc and Zimmermann. Designer Nicky Zimmermann told POPSUGAR Australia that the brand was better suited to a showcase in New York, but we can expect to see them in some capacity during MBFWA: "We are building Zimmermann globally and to do that we need to base ourselves on an international schedule. We also have new stores that we are opening in America and it's important we support those. We used to present collections in New York and then also do fashion week in Australia but it’s just become a bit difficult with the timing of shows and the selling seasons. We will still do things around Australian Fashion Week because it’s an important event but it’s just a bit difficult to do another show."
