Why yes, I do have an anti-Facebook agenda! Facebook took my field of professional interest — social software — and reduced it to a boring monoculture focused on making money by selling out the privacy of its users (or as Zuck called them, “dumb fucks”.)
And since I have deleted my Facebook account, instead of just complaining about it but using it anyway (as my friends and family do), I am that much less in contact with those friends/family. So yeah, no surprise that I’m interested in any portents of Facebook’s dying in a fire, or at least just slowly withering away as MySpace/ Friendster/ Tribe/ Orkut/ LiveJournal did.
(Sigh. I still miss LiveJournal. Although I admit that if its owners had had enough business sense to become successful, they’d probably be as evil as Facebook now and I’d be hating on LJ too.)
