The Dresden Codak Kickstarter is live! (And already fully funded!)
There are a lot of options, but the main one is $45 for the hardcover of The Tomorrow Girl, a collection of the first five years of Dresden Codak, including the entire “Hob” series.
If you haven’t read Dresden Codak … it’s hard to describe. It’s a web-comic. It’s published irregularly, but as the strips get less and less frequent they get more and more lavish. If printed out in their original layout they form scrolls four or five feet long (I have one in my stairwell), so Aaron had to go to a lot of work to reformat them for the book.
The subject matter is mostly satirical science-fiction, with lots of digs at transhumanism and other philosophies. It’s the kind of thing that can send you running to Wikipedia, but in a good way.
Some of my favorite standalone strips are The Sleepwalkers, Advanced Dungeons & Discourse, and Fabulous Prizes. There are also two longer series, Hob and Dark Science, the latter of which is still ongoing and isn’t in the book.
