In honor of the new “Ghostbusters" movie opening on July 15, “Extra” and On Location Tours picked 10 Big Apple locations featured in all three of the “Ghostbusters" films. New York Public Library
This iconic NYC building is featured in the opening scene of “Ghostbusters," foreshadowing what’s to come as a ghost terrifies a librarian. Better keep an eye on those lions.
Washington Square Park
Washington Square Park is built on top of a historical burial ground. In "Ghostbusters II," a giant specter terrifies crowds as it passes through the famous arch. Could it be representative of all of the resentful bones still buried under the famous park? Don’t miss the chance to see the Ecto1 making a sharp turn off of Fifth Avenue in front of the arch.
United States Courthouse
This real-life courthouse is featured in "Ghostbusters II," when the crew finds themselves on trial for digging a giant hole on First Avenue – that is, until the judge activates the psychomagnotheric slime which causes ghosts to manifest themselves. The Ghostbusters save him, and are pardoned, and announce their triumphant return to business.
National Museum of the American Indian
This building stood in for the Manhattan Museum of Art, where the Ghostbusters are summoned in "II" to investigate some paranormal activity. There, they find the strange man Janosz, and Vigo, a portrait of a Carpathian ruler.
Ghostbusters Firehouse
This Ghostbusters landmark is a fully-functional Tribeca Firehouse and is featured in all three films. It serves as the Ghostbusters headquarters. In the first film, Dr. Peter Venkman (Bill Murray) and Dr. Egon Spengler (Harold Ramis) are less than thrilled about having to move to this abandoned firehouse after losing their research space at Columbia University. Dr. Spengler says, “This neighborhood is like a demilitarized zone.” The firehouse is currently under construction, and the firemen from Hook & Ladder 8 are working out of Ladder 20 just a few short blocks away.
Columbus Circle
All seems lost when the Stay-Puft Marshmallow Man can be seen stomping up Central Park West from Columbus Circle in the original “Ghostbusters" film.
Tavern on the Green
In the first film, poor Louis Tully (Rick Moranis) gets stuck outside this fancy NYC establishment as he’s chased by Vinz Clortho. He can’t find a way in, the diners inside think he’s crazy, and he gets turned into the Keymaster.
Algonquin Hotel

Check out the famous hotel that inspired the Sedgewick Hotel in the original film, where the Ghostbusters have their second brush with the supernatural – and their first success!
City Hall
The Ghostbusters are brought here to convince Mayor Lenny to let them go up against Gozer, despite the protests of EPA agent Walter Peck.
Dana Barrett’s Apartment
This building, numbered 550 in the first movie, is called “Spook Central” by the Ghostbusters and is used by Gozer as the door to the spiritual realm. It is located at 55 Central Park West.
