We wrote about how to start it, how to create content day in and day out, how to promote your work and all the other aspects of (professional) blogging. So it is always a delight to come across a blog with a .Me domain, and recently, we stumbled upon one that is gathering quite a buzz. Don’t be fooled by the name, there is no inappropriate content on this blog. PornBurger.Me. Got your attention?
Just Food and Decadence
Although there is no porn (unless you count foodporn), the author Matthew Ramsey put in a lot of decadence. Fair warning, don’t check out this blog if you are hungry. So what it is about? Well, to put it simply, it is all about burgers. But what burgers! Beside usual photos and ingredients, each burger has a (dirty) name and usually short complementary text spiced up with a few dirty puns. To name just a few: Mac Daddy, Lolita, Dirdy Birdy, Full Mounty… With a mission to serve one burger a week, it instantly became one of my personal favourite foodie blogs.
As Mathew puts it, he is a classically trained chef, with cowboy roots and ninja aspirations, currently residing in Washington, DC. When he’s not busy writing his blog, he works as a creative gun for hire and produces videos as the co-founder of the DC/NYC based production company, Grizzly+Scout. But I will let Matthew himself to tell us a bit more about his blog in this mini-interview.
What gave you the idea for the PornBurger.Me?
So Pornburger.Me is essentially the inevitable culmination of my lust for simultaneously creating and devouring burgers. As a trained chef and photographer, I challenged myself to a strict regiment of creating, photographing, and consuming one outrageous burger a week, for a year. For those counting, I’m 10 burgers in. As much as possible, or is practical, I try and make most of the components from scratch. Why burgers? When a burger is done well, it can be both a spiritual and erotic experience… They’re a guilty pleasure, and I am a pure glutton for pleasure. Also, I’m pretty sure they’re my spirit animal.
How did you pick a name for your blog?
Few people know this, but the porn industry is actually a three tier system. Porn amateur is at the bottom, then there’s porn star, and then on top, you have the most highly coveted – pornburger. I aim for the top.
What separates PornBurger.Me from the rest of the foodie blogs?
Hmm… I don’t know of many other food blogs that get flagged for being inappropriate at work. For whatever reason, I find great pleasure in this.
Are there any future plans for the PornBurger project?
I look forward to awesome collaborations with a wide array of artists, chefs, and even scientists. Eventually I hope to compile the project into a racy cookbook, where all recipes will finally be revealed. Stay tuned!
