CLARION, Pa. — An overview of the success of ALF.

Another year has closed on The Farmers National Bank Autumn Leaf Festival™. The 60th annual festival was a great success, and that is all thanks to the many sponsors, volunteers, patrons and participants! As a whole, Clarion could not have asked for better weather as we had consecutive days of warm weather and a lot of sunshine. A large part of every festival’s success is contingent upon the weather and this year it seemed that everything was in align.

Every year the festival seems to grow and develop in new and surprising ways. As events are brought the festival, it is exciting to see the engaging audience participation and to see the event as a whole actually occur. This year some of the new events like the Q102/ZDD/ZDB “Kick Off Night” was a great addition to the festival. The streamlining of the events, the Clarion Psychiatric Center “Cornhole Tournament” and the McDonald’s “Motorcycle Cruise In/Bike Night” and the band Leverage, really helped to make the night an enjoyable experience.

The incorporation of gentlemen into the Clarion Community Medicine – UPMC Scholarship Program turned out to be a hit. It is promising to see a measurable increased interest in the event as the total number of contestants noticeably rose. This year’s Clarion University and Community “Cultural Week” sponsored by Golden Living Center (Clarion and Shippenville) entertained some new and old talent, as several organizations and groups were welcomed back to the festival so were new ones.

The festival was happy to host the fan favorites like, Jill West and the Blues Attack, Clarion University International Students Association, Maidens IV Celtic Band as well as the new acts of The Keister Family Band and the Community Hymn Sing. The Northwest Savings Bank “Antique Tractor Show” also brought two new aspects of entertainment to the ALF™ as the Next O’Kin Country and Gospel band performed throughout the day and young tractor enthusiasts were able to patronize the Clarion County 4H by riding on the Berg USA, LLC Pedal Tractors and Bikes.

This year we were graced by the presence of two special men that culminated in a special event the last day of the festival. Don Stroup and George Wolf, two of the Chamber’s founding fathers and two men instrumental in creating and sustaining the Autumn Leaf Festival™, were able to join-in on the festivities especially for the cake cutting to commemorate this year’s significance.

Utensil Crocks are SOLD OUT! We are very happy that  the commemorative utensil crocks were such a “hot-commodity” for this year’s festival. Still available at the Clarion Area Chamber office is the 2013 merchandise, including, t-shirts, sweatshirts, commemorative “Favorite Recipes” Cookbook, Coloring Books and Crayons, Tumblers, Steins and Shot Glasses. The cake cutting was held in front of the Courthouse on Sunday, September 29,  2013 and both men commented on the growth and development of the Chamber, the festival and of Clarion with very meaningful and heart-felt sentiments. All of the New Salem Stoneware Utensil Crocks are SOLD OUT!

Please mark your calenders now.  The 61st Annual Farmers National Bank Autumn Leaf Festival™ is scheduled for  September 19 – September 28, 2014. If you missed any of the events this year or did not get a chance to see the media coverage of your favorite event, please see the following results and recap of the events.
