In similar fashion to my ever-so-popular article 5 Reasons Why The Law of Attraction isn’t Working for You, I’m going to dive even deeper into the LoA phenomena and discuss some of the aspects which tend to get glossed over, marginalized, or undervalued.

The article title says it all on this one (and there’s lots to say), so let’s get to it!

3. You’re Misunderstanding The Meaning of The Word “Manifest”/Your Definition of The Word “Manifest” is Inaccurate to Reality

Manifestation is far and away one of the most positive, happy, constructive, and progressive experiences you can consciously create for yourself.

But what exactly IS manifestation…and how does it actually work?

The common understanding of “manifestation” equates it with “pulling something” out of “the ether” of reality, and having it present itself before you for the taking.

In other words, people genuinely believe that things come out of thin air because you’re placing heavy emphasis on thinking about them.

From the perspective of most LoA goers, things like money and opportunity “just show up” because we resonate with them. No further research of scientific study is done to genuinely discover what’s actually causing this manifestation to take place…so it appears magic when the knowledge gap remains wide.

This, unfortunately, is not what’s actually happening in reality.

Things don’t just spawn out of the ether because we think about them intently enough…it’s actually more amazing than that!

Things “come to us” as “we attract” them with our thinking. This is essentially accurate, albeit incredibly oversimplified.

What most people call The Law of Attraction is actually a red herring of sorts; there’s nothing magical happening other than people finally getting emotionally balanced enough to take direct personal action.

It’s this very direct personal action, however, that’s precisely responsible for any and all results manifested for the individual.

The purpose of positive thinking/thinking about what you want is to act as the catalyst needed to get you to finally start taking action in the direction of your goals.

The emotional state is strong enough that we disconnect from any perceived initial failure/attempt, and simply keep taking action. Eventually, the law of averages catches on, and with a little supplemental knowledge and experience, you can start succeeding at any goal you set out to accomplish.

This will all make sense and tie in with the rest of this article.

2. You’re Not Actually Paying Attention to How Things Already Manifest in Your Life

Ready for the zinger (and the stinger)?

If your entire reason for manifesting is to escape a lifestyle you’ve created for yourself – and you’re hoping that by using the LoA, you can get out of it easier and with less effort – you will fail, because THAT’S THE LEVEL OF THINKING from which the LoA derives its mechanism/is activated.

That level of “secret” self-thinking where you laugh to yourself and think “I hope this works”!; THAT’S the level that activates that LoA. So when you’re not genuine right down to the core, neither will be your manifestation efforts.

Time and time again, people attempt to use the LoA as a passive tool, whereby they themselves believe they can, for some reason, arbitrarily “believe” in the LoA to a certain extent, and then foolishly believe that this arbitrary cutoff is sufficient enough to get the LoA into gear. Then, they get extremely aggravated when nothing happens…or the exact opposite of what they “think” they want happens (I wonder why that’s so?).

The reason most people WILL fail with Law of Attraction efforts isn’t because they don’t have the energy to contribute to it, but because they utilize that energy in completely ineffective ways.

Nowhere is this more true than with people who actually fake being positive…and then rationalize the concrete, objective negative results they’re getting from reality!

Attempting to be positive by forcing your current paradigm to bend in odd ways (creating your own inconsistent logic), and being genuinely, intuitively, and intrinsically positive about life despite circumstances are two very, very, VERY different things.

This subtle yet powerful difference is responsible for the stark contrast in success and failure rates with the Law of Attraction.

Consider the following example which expresses this idea:

Let’s say you want to “manifest” $1000 for yourself. We’re going to make this simple, and not give it a deadline to appear (that’s half the problem for most, and you’ll see why).

So, you meditate for a bit, write your request down on paper, and think about and praise the concept of money all day long. You detach from any outcome in your mind, and you remain open to any and all opportunities to allow the money to come to you.

A few days pass, and you start seeing “NOW HIRING” signs everywhere you go. Just about every store you visit that particular day is hinting to the fact that they are looking for help. You think that’s odd, brush it off, and continue about your day.

Later that day, you’re contacted by several friends looking for help moving/with errands etc, and they’re offering to pay you to come help. It’s not $1000, but it’s definitely a nice chunk of cash! You accept, have some fun, and make some money for the day.

The following day, you find out someone donated a small sum of money to your PayPal account overnight for something you wrote on a website/did online over a year ago (this happens all the time to me). “I though my account was inactive on that site…?” you think to yourself. Oh well, that’s another couple bucks right there!

Are you seeing what’s happening here? While absolutely possible, it’s very improbable that $1000 cash will just fall into someone’s lap because they want to manifest it for themselves. The real mechanism that enables money to come to you is when you take direct personal action and take advantage of the opportunities that are screaming at you. Over time, you will make $1000. If our person in this example just kept his awareness for opportunity sharp, he’d see no shortage of little opportunities to make some money.

Now for the brutal truth that all New Age/Personal Development material likes to marginalize and sweep under the rug:

Does this method replace reliable sources of income such as a career or business? Absolutely not. That topic is a whole separate article, and it’s one that I’m crafting for the near future because it answers a ton of little questions which keep people stuck.

Your eventual “return” from reality via the LoA is going to be equally proportionate to your ability to serve.

Simply put, the more capable you are for a task, the more your synchronicity will reflect this.

A cashier isn’t going to manifest a stock market deal that makes him that $1000 in ten minutes, because he doesn’t have the skills to take advantage of that synch even if it came along and smacked him in the face.

One of the biggest struggles people have with the LoA is that they unfortunately believe the opposite of this, and then get disappointed when huge synchs aren’t dumping on them like summer rain showers. You HAVE to meet reality halfway, and be educated and prepared enough to actually follow through with the synchs!

THIS is precisely why you’ll see “now hiring” signs everywhere if you don’t already own a business or make your own money; those are the only synchs which are going to resonate with you. You walk right by plenty of high-level synchs on a daily basis, but they don’t grab your attention because they are outside of your current limits of your own knowledge and capability to act.

LoA goer thinking is the exact opposite of everything discussed above.

Unlike our friend in our example, our second group genuinely believes that $1000 is going to show up under their pillow in the morning. If not, they’re not doing it right

Individual education, ability to strike deals and negotiate, and an inclination to do business to MAKE that money appear are nowhere to be found in their equation. It’s just magic!

This leads us directly to our final point…

1.You’re Using The Law of Attraction as a Substitute for Direct Personal Action

…And now everything ties together and becomes so clear!

The Law of Attraction requires that your senses, perceptions, thoughts, emotions, and actions all be calibrated and in tune with the way reality ACTUALLY exists, behaves, and presents itself.

Most LoAers are some of the most delusional, anti-realist people you’ll ever meet. It’s no wonder they have such mixed results with the LoA; there’s almost never any consistency!

The unfortunate truth is, most Law of Attraction advocates are swooned by the initial mental and emotional combination of thinking and feeling that the LoA is a substitute for hard work, effort, and direct personal action at a sufficient enough frequency to build momentum and spawn genuine synchronicity.

The word “action” is even featured within the phrase itself; Law of Attr-ACTION!

Without action, there is no mechanism to bridge the gap between your inner and outer worlds. Human beings are typically quite resistant to action, because all of the actions required for growth and progress to occur lie outside of their comfort zones – and that’s exactly why most secretly “wish” the LoA will replace “the hard” parts of their life quest for them.

Reality, however, takes no prisoners and cares not for your emotional imbalances. Reality is trying to teach you how to correct your form by giving you exactly what you’re asking for, 100% of the time, whether you’re consciously capable of recognizing that fact or not.

I’m going to share a secret with you that’s even more powerful, important, and empowering than all of the information in “The Secret” combined:

Behave as if the Law of Attraction doesn’t exist, and nothing will come to your aid. Assume that you have to do all the ground work and action yourself to make things happen. Don’t give yourself the added comfort of knowing the universe “has got you, bro!”; just behave in ways that are in alignment with your goals and higher values.

Then, become amazed by all of the synchronicity that starts conspiring to assist you!

Congratulations, you’ve just successfully activated and utilized the Law of Attraction the correct way! And guess what? It’s entirely due to the fact that the above suggested exercise satisfies the three biggest criteria for successful Law of Attraction usage:

Detach from outcome: easy to do when you assume the LoA isn’t real/won’t work/YOU have to make things happen

Take direct personal action despite immediate circumstances: if it’s all you and there’s no help, only you can change things!

Invest no emotional energy into anything other than keeping yourself positive and motivated to continue taking direct personal action with high frequency: high frequency action leads to a filtering of “failure” experiences sooner and sooner, and thus allows access to success experiences as momentum builds. You’re not thinking “What if…”, or “How do I…” all day; you’re riding your positive energy and simply taking constructive actions – despite the “fact” that the universe may not assist you.

As long as those three main criteria are satisfied – you WILL have success with the LoA.

If you adhere to these criteria and still nothing changes, rest assured you’re not as calibrated with reality as you think you are. That’s not a cop-out, by the way; I’m very aware that it sounds like one, and I’m also very intolerant myself to such claims.

However, the LoA IS the one area of life where this applies 100%, because that’s the very essence of the LoA itself; to “give you” like-experiences. Thus, if you’re not actually calibrated with reality accurately enough, your results can only reflect this back to you. Even when you’re getting bad results, you’re still getting results! This should empower you to learn and practice your power more.

Reality can only give you the reflection of what you’re putting out.

When you start understanding this from a higher level of consciousness, you’re going to have an epiphany.

It’s just like in fourth grade when I had the ingenious insight that the word “everybody” meant every-body, as in all bodies (beings). Literally every single body (being) present in the room. Incredibly dumb, I know, but it illustrates my point of having something in your face for years, but not actually “seeing” or “getting” it.

The LoA principle is exactly like a common word you use on a daily basis, but never actually stop to consciously ponder its definition. It’s only when you consciously stop and take note of what’s already happening, how you’re already behaving, and how that behavior is the cause of the types of results you’re getting in life – that you reclaim your power as an individual human being.

Making an honest, conscious attempt to perceive reality as accurately as possible, denying yourself the luxury of self-delusion and comfort zone foolery, and taking direct personal action while taking advantage of synchronicity in your immediate environment is the “secret” to incredibly fulfilling growth and life experiences.
