5  Diet Tips To Boost Your Metabolism

hen we talk about boosting your metabolism through diet, there is a lot of the information flying around that is either heavily exaggerated or it is jusr not true. Nonetheless, if you know the right which information to pay attention to and which information to disregard, you can get better results by increasing the number of calories you burn every day with just a few simple changes to your diet. Here are five highly beneficial diet tips to help you boost your metabolism.

Tip 1 – Eat When It Fits You Best

One of the biggest metabolism myths out there is that you need to constantly be eating to boost your metabolism . This is often nothing more than hype created by supplement companies in order to sell more of their products. In today’s busy lifestyles, working long hours, taking care of the kids, and many other commitments, consume most of our time.  The reality is, as long as your total daily calories are consistent and in keeping with your basal metabolic rate, the frequency and the number of meals you consume isn’t important. Everyone’s schedules are different and being able to frequently consume food is often almost impossible for many.

So instead of struggling to fit in five or six mini-meals into your day, develop a healthy meal plan that accommodates your lifestyle. Using this method, not only will have you enjoying your meals more but you will stay motivated because you’re not stressed out by trying to find times and ways to eat.

Tip 2 – Use Spices

Spices are a superb to give a kick to your meals and they will also boost your metabolism in the process. When you eat spices, they briefly spark your body’s fat burning processes which results in you burning more body fat. Additionally, consuming spices will increase your body’s temperature so your body will use more calories to regulate this increase in temperature.

Therefore if you don’t currently use many spices in your cooking, you should start making some changes today. Several different spices are available with various flavors and intensities for you to find one that you like. Also, spices are extremely versatile and can be used to season meat, fish, vegetables, nuts and seeds.

Tip 3 – Base Each Meal Around Protein

You can naturally boost your metabolism by basing every meal you eat around protein. Unlike carbohydrates and fats (which burn very little calories when digested), when you take in protein, your body will use up 25% of the calories it contains during digestion.

This means that if most of your meals are rich in processed carbohydrates (such as white rice or white pasta), base them around a protein source instead (such as meat or fish) and of course do not forget your vegetables. In this way you’ll still get some nutrient packed carbohydrates in your meal but you’ll remove the extra carbohydrate calories and enjoy the calorie burning effects of protein.

Tip 4 – Get Plenty Of Fiber

Just like protein rich foods, foods that include high amounts of fiber use more energy to digest which will naturally boost your metabolism when you eat them. Eating fiber rich foods will increase the amount of nutrients you can absorb from your foods, protect against bowel disease and much more. High amounts of fiber can be found in plant based foods. For that reason, to get plenty of fiber in your diet, simply fill up on vegetables, fruits, nuts and seeds.

Tip 5 – Stay Away From Processed Carbs

As mentioned above, if your diet contains mainly high concentration of processed carbs and you want to boost your metabolism, then you should replace your carbohydrate rich meals with protein rich meals.

The reason for this is that processed carbs call for very few calories to digest, so the greater number of processed carbs you eat, the fewer total calories your digestive system burns off. Also, processed carbs consist of very few vitamins, minerals and phytonutrients. These important nutrients give support to numerous processes within your body (including metabolism) and by failing to get enough of these nutrients in your diet, you can cause your metabolism to slow down and decrease the total amount of calories you burn each day.

So to keep your nutrient levels up, increase the volume of calories you burn during digestion and maintain an optimal metabolism, you need to cut back on processed carbs and increase fiber rich, nutrient packed, natural carbs such as nuts, seeds, fruits and vegetables.

Summary

As you can see, there reallly is no magic dietary tricks when it comes to boosting your metabolism. Still, by being wise and changing your diet so that it includes the five tips above, you can naturally boost your metabolism and burn through an increased number of calories each day.
