When the St. Louis Rams became the Los Angeles Rams earlier this year, it made Gregg Williams Foundation director Tray Harkins job a little more difficult with the annual Gregg Williams Tiger Classic fast approaching.

“Our biggest challenge is just getting auction items,” Harkins said. “With the Rams moving everybody is in transition. So, getting Gregg to get ahold of everybody to get us our auction items this year, they’re coming in slow. We have some Yankees tickets with parking at Yankee Stadium, some Dodgers suite tickets for sale this year, autographed footballs and jerseys.”

The events of Gregg Williams week kick off on Wednesday, July 13 with the annual Tigers Athletic Hall of Fame induction. Thursday there is the golf banquet at the Elms Hotel Ballroom with a reverse raffle.

Spots are still available in Friday’s golf tournament, including spots in the coveted morning flight, in the annual benefit golf tournament. Harkins says there are 20 spots still up for grabs in the annual benefit golf tournament with four spots still open in the morning. The cost for a four-person team is $500 for a bronze level sponsorship of the tournament. Sponsorships of increased donation are available and offer more incentives.

“There are slots in the morning, and those are hard to come by,” Harkins said. “It’s kind of odd this late in the game.”

The Gregg Williams Foundation was founded in 2005 to benefit children of Excelsior Springs. To date the foundation has handed out more than $1.2 million for projects in Excelsior Springs.
