PAST LIFE THERAPY

by, VALERIE VINAR, PH.D, M.F.T., CLINICAL HYPNOTHERAPIST LIFE COACH

HOW IT WORKS:

Have you had a deju experience where you met someone for the first time and feel like you’ve known them before? Or perhaps you have been somewhere that feels so familiar but you don’t have a conscious memory of it? These can be examples of past lifetimes that are in your memory banks.

Accessing these memories through hypnosis, guided imagery, and deep relaxation are some of the ways to help heal present day challenges. These same techniques are frequently used to go back to early childhood memories from your current lifetime that may also be reasons for issues and problems you are experiencing.

In both present and past lifetimes, clients are led to significant events of those lifetimes including a life review. The life review shows lessons learned and decisions made from a higher spiritual perspective. When memories come into conscious awareness, emotional blockages and lost energy can be accessed, and healing can occur.

You may have had dreams that felt so real that it’s almost as though you are there. Have you ever awakened and wonder for awhile if you were dreaming? It may be that the dream used symbols and metaphors that are keys to a past life. Dreams often carry symbols that bring healing information. These are important messages to use for new understanding.

When you re-experience and process important events of a past life more understanding and closure can occur in your current life.

If you are wondering about hypnosis and guided imagery it is important to know you are always in control. The therapist is a guide, and you are able to come back to the present moment whenever you choose. Hypnosis is an opportunity to allow your memory to be more accessible. Your conscious logical mind can relax more to let unconscious memories come forth. In this way it is easier to experience symbols and information much like when you are dreaming.

The word hypnosis gives the impression that you are asleep. However, in hypnosis while being very relaxed you are aware and able to know what is going on around you. It can feel much like meditating; however you may feel even more deeply relaxed. For some, fifteen minutes of hypnosis can feel as though you have had an hour of sleep.

Sometimes clients experience past lives vividly and in great detail. The memories may seem more a feeling, or vague impression, or perhaps only some parts come in clearly. You may also hear something or know something intuitively. At other times after a session you will have dreams or messages that come to you seemingly out of the blue.

In some past lives that I have experienced I was a Viking, in another a healer. Another time I saw myself as an editor in the old West.

Clients find that they have known others in their current lives, but often in another kind of relationship. This may be as a child or parent or spouse to someone that is has a different role in this lifetime. It appears that we come back to “soul groups” to learn lessons in different ways for our growth. Genders change in other lifetimes; that is, you may have been the opposite sex from the one you are now. Probably you looked very different, and at the same time, you may have brought talents and interests from another lifetime.

It isn’t necessary for you to believe in reincarnation for past life therapy to work for you. If you are willing to have an open mind to the experience you can look at it as a way to have new insight and clarity. Whether using more traditional therapy or past life therapy you can look at this as an adventure. One where together we can look at situations from their origin and extend the time frame further back for more effectively exploring and resolving current situations and challenges.

Past Life Therapy is now more accepted as a valuable therapeutic tool. It can more rapidly bring up information in one or a few sessions that might take longer in more traditional therapy. For many people it is a means to expand their experience, and rely more on their inner wisdom.

Mia came in to my office because of pains in her leg that would not go away. She had been to doctors, had some relief, only to have the pain reoccur. In a past life she saw herself as a man in the 1600’s running away from pursuers. Suddenly, the man fell and had his leg trapped in a hole. The pursuers didn’t find him, but neither did anyone else. Eventually he was able to pull himself away from the area. However, his leg never healed sufficiently and he limped throughout his life. Once Mia experienced that past life she felt better and her leg pain went away.

Tim did not understand why he felt so alone, even when he was in a loving relationship. He came in for counseling and in the course of the treatment I regressed him to a childhood experience that brought some clarity and understanding to him about his current life. He asked to go back even further, in subsequent sessions to get more information.

In one of the sessions he saw himself as an orphan in another country. He was alone and no one was taking care of him. He wanted to be loved but so many people were starving that he was left to his own devices. In that session, I assisted him in imagining going back in time to that young child and putting his arms around him telling him he was worthwhile. That he was in an untenable situation that wasn’t about his worth or loveableness. He told the young boy that he, Tim, was from a time in the future and that he, (the boy) would have new opportunities to be loved and cared for.

After that session, Tim recognized how he was holding back from his current relationship partner because of the old fear of being rejected and alone. He began reacting differently to his partner and shared his past life story with her.

She was empathetic and listened while holding him in her arms. He could feel healing occurring and a lightening of the burden of fear he had been carrying.
