Job description:

Exa Corporation is the developer of PowerFLOW a computational fluid dynamic software used in the automotive industry by many car companies around the world to develop and improve their cars or trucks. Several other software’s are developed by Exa to support and expand the usage of PowerFLOW for aerodynamics, aeroacoustics and thermal management applications.

Exa is looking for a full-time entry-level Instructional Design/eLearning Specialist to work with the education program team. As an Instructional Designer, you will report to the education program manager and support the creation of eLearning courses aimed at teaching engineers how to use Exa’s software, how to develop ground vehicle using Exa’s solutions and even on the fundamental sciences behind the applications. Projects will require working with subject matter experts (SME) located in the US and Europe and will require traveling from time to time.

Duties and Responsibilities:

An Instructional Design /eLearning Specialist is an individual who can work independently, with little supervision, as well as collaboratively on a team. Excellent design, organizational and communication skills are critical for success in this position. The duties below are not inclusive and the incumbent may perform all or some combination of the duties listed, as well as other job-related duties as required.

Creates interactive multimedia instruction content outlines and storyboards that address written, visual, and audio requirements.

Develops and maintains course support materials, files and documentation.

Designs, modifies, develops, writes and implements computer-based training modules using appropriate software.

Coordinates with software developers and trainers to ensure training materials are comprehensive and accurate, when required.

Possesses knowledge of instructional design and facilitated learning through technology; uses instructional design methodology for engineers.

Writes scripts to match comprehension level of target audience.

Collaborates with SMEs to adapt course content to online delivery.

Engages throughout the development process to ensure changes or enhancements are incorporated into training materials.

Performs other job related duties as required to meet business needs.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Professional understanding of educational technology and how to use it effectively.

Knowledge of best practices and instructional strategies for eLearning.

Able to use eLearning authoring and/or software applications packages such as Articulate, Adobe Audition or Audacity, Camtasia.

Proficient use of Microsoft Office software such as Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.

Strong conceptual thinking; the ability to take raw content and create storyboards that support delivering an engaging eLearning experience.

Ability to manage multiple projects as well as the ability to work independently and in a team environment.

Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.

Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Professional demeanor and attitude.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university with concentration in Instructional/Educational Technology, eLearning, or related field.

Must have experience in instructional development.

Desirable Qualifications:

Certificate in Instructional/Educational Technology or Designing Learning

Master’s degree in Instructional Technology or eLearning Graduate Certificate.

1-2 years of relevant work experience; 1-2 years computer-based and/or web-based training development experience.
