On more than one occasion, I have called American singer-songwriter Kina Grannis the gold standard among independent “YouTube” musicians. Since 2015, her usually exemplary social media presence and her YouTube activities might have gone down drastically, but she is still a phenomenal artist. And a delightful interview partner.
With Elements, she delivered one of the best singer-songwriter albums of 2014 – a year that was exceptionally strong in the singer-songwriter and contemporary folk pop department. So that’s saying something.
And with Elements – and some of Kina’s amazing cover songs – in the background, this minimalistic stencil-type design almost created itself.
