Two weeks ago, on June 27, I started the DukanDiet.com. I had never heard of the Dukan Diet before, but was excited to partner with them to help me jump start my motivation for weight loss. The Dukan Diet is a physician-formulated lifestyle weight-loss program consisting of 4 phases to reach and keep your “True Weight”. There is no counting calories, carbs, or points…instead, it focuses on lean protein, lots of water, daily walking and unrestricted amounts of 100 healthy foods.

I liked the idea of being on a low carb diet and not having to count anything. And I loved the idea of eating more protein and vegetables and removing starches and sugar from my diet. I’ve been starch and sugar free for 14 days now and FEEL GREAT! I know it’s going to sound cliché, but I seriously have more energy and I’m less tired. And the best part is not craving sugar and carbs anymore. I don’t know the scientific reason, but I LOVE not being hungry and not going into emotional eating sugar craving frenzies. I have not wanted to over eat ever since I started the Dukan Diet two weeks ago.

That alone is a HUGE win!

I started my Weight Loss Coaching with the Dukan Diet by going to DukanDiet.com and calculating my true weight.

Click here to calculate your true weight (it’s free).

I completed the 11 questions in the form, activated my coaching program, and then filled out a longer 80 question coaching form to officially begin the Dukan Diet Program.

The following day, and every day since, I’ve received daily coaching tools and a weight loss plan that include motivational words of wisdom, suggested meals, and daily exercises. The weight loss coaching I receive is customized and changes based on how I fill out my daily report. I wish the coaching was more personal…with a real person…and less computerized, but I still find it to be helpful.

I do receive personal coaching with their daily live chats, where I can ask questions and get advice – in real time – with real coaches. And when I can’t attend a live chat, I can post my questions prior to the chat and then read the chat’s transcript afterwards.

Feeling Full and Falling in Love with Oat Bran

Although I have given up all grains and carbs (like bread, cold cereal, pasta, chips, crackers, muffins, etc.) I am eating two tablespoons of oat bran and wheat bran every day.

According to the Dukan Diet, oat bran slows down sugar absorption, helps lower cholesterol, creates a feeling of fullness and absorbs and removes 5% of my daily calorie intake.

Oat bran is the cornerstone of The Dukan Diet and is consumed daily in all phases.

How It Works…

My Attack Phase

My Attack Phase, which kicked started my diet and weight loss, lasted 6 days. And for 6 long days I only ate protein in unlimited amounts. The first 2 days were challenging, but I got into the swing of it. I ate a VARIETY of protein during those 6 days including lean beef, lean kosher beef hot dogs, lean slices of roast beef, chicken, low fat deli slices of turkey, fish, imitation crab, vegetarian sausage links, vegetarian bacon, vege burgers, tempeh, fat-free cottage cheese, fat-free cream cheese, fat-free milk, fat-free yogurt, and eggs. The key to my weight loss has been variety!

After those six days, I lost 6 pounds…which was very exciting since I spent the last six months gaining 12 pounds. Plus I truly felt GREAT! I loved (and continue to love) being sugar free!

My Cruise Phase

My Cruise Phase started on July 3…and I was never so happy to eat vegetables. In this phase, I can eat an unlimited about of 32 different vegetables every other day. In general, the Dukan Diets says I can expect to lose one pound every 3 days in this phase…and so far I have lost one pound every 4 days.

In total, I have lost 8 pounds since I started the Dukan Diet two weeks ago and am still highly motivated to continue on my Dukan Diet journey.

Have I Cheated?

Yes. I have cheated a little since being in the Cruise Phase. Meaning I had some feta cheese on my salad one night, one plum for an afternoon snack, a few bites of watermelon, and last night had a few small bites of my son’s ice cream. But I’m human and all of my “lapses” have been small and minor. Plus I recorded them on my daily online report and have receive guidance on how to manage my lapses.

Oh this weight loss journey is indeed a journey for my body, mind, and spirit.
