The impeccable grooming at the Curragh racecourse extended far beyond the horses’ coats at the Longines Irish Champions Weekend on Sunday.

The style stakes were at an ultimate high as avid fashion and racing enthusiasts from across the world put their best foot forward at the iconic Kildare racecourse.

Jessica and Ronan O’Gara, this year’s Longines Style and Sports Ambassadors were joined by famous faces including Rugby International Sean O’Brien and Rugby pundit Tom McGurk.

This year the Longines Prize for Elegance competition has a prize fund of over €25,000 up for grabs over the course of the weekend.

Dressmaker Anna McGuire from Rush, Co. Dublin, scooped the best-dressed ladies award after creating her own winning cream outfit.

The lucky punter won a €3,000 spending spree voucher from Kildare Village as well as receiving a year’s complimentary hairdressing at the David Marshall Hair Salon to the value of €2,000.

Chris Bonini grabbed the best-dressed men’s award after catching the judges eyes with a tailored Ted Baker blazer and Topman trousers.

Chris, who travelled from Athlone for the races also received a Longines timepiece, a €2,000 spending spree voucher from Kildare Village, and a voucher for the David Marshall Hair Salon.

Now in its 3rd year, the weekend event features 10 Group races, including 5 Group 1s, with two iconic feature races – QIPCO Irish Champion Stakes and the Palmerstown House Estate Irish St. Leger with prize-money over the weekend totalling €4.5 million.

The Longines Irish Champions weekend is the first leg of a European Triple Crown of championship meetings leading into the QATAR Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe meeting at Longchamp in early October and QIPCO British Champions Day at Ascot two weeks later.
