For Her is a tangy Chypre, energising mandarin with patchouli and marine notes. For Him, an earthy scent with spice facets, lavender and a boost of masculine base notes. YSL Mon Paris
A traditional Chypre has citrus top notes, an earthy dry down with a sexy finish that usually includes patchouli and quite often, musk. Now, three Master Perfumers have turned the Chypre into a new creation at YSL for a thoroughly modern fragrance. Mon Paris starts out citrusy, bergamot joined by strawberry and pear. What follows are the heady white flowers; peony, both jasmines and orange blossom. The classic patchouli trail is joined by three types of crystal white musk, making this the scent to wear when you’re looking to get noticed! YSL counters, €60/30ml.
I LOVE JUICY COUTURE
I AM JUICY COUTURE ranked in the top 10 US launches in 2015, no doubt this new I LOVE JUICY COUTURE will follow suit, (€63/50ml). Described as unapologetically glamorous, bold and fierce, it certainly delivers as a fruity Oriental. The top has mandarin and red currant notes, the heart has Tiger lily, jasmine and honeysuckle that give way to lots of amber, musk and patchouli. Even the bottle is fierce with its leopard print and chain details. Wallflowers step aside please. Counters nationwide this month.
Thierry Mugler Angel Muse
Thierry Mugler Angel fans are lifelong wearers of the sweet gourmand scent (it has been around a staggering 24 years now). New for 2016 is Angel Muse, a less sweet, more grounded fragrance for women. The composition has hazelnut cream expertly intertwined with Vetiver, a normally masculine note but here it adds elegance and earthiness. The bottle is described as a ‘Cosmic Pebble’, the face is Georgia May Jagger whose Mum Jerry Hall was the face of the original Angel.
