She’s just been through an acrimonious public split with her former husband, South African cricket star Graeme Smith, and on her new divorce blog Irish Popstar Morgan Deane has addressed the wedding dress and diamond rings issue post-marital bliss.

The Cork beauty is dishing out advice as a divorce guru on The Green Girl’s Guide To Divorce.

The latest topic she’s discussing is whether or not to continue wearing your engagement and wedding rings, as well as whether or not to get rid of your bridal gown – and she has.

‘I’m sure you have wonderful memories of that dress, but now that dress may be a trigger point. Definitely don’t keep it. Five of the letters in depressing are D R E S S. Get the picture?’ she wrote on the website.

‘Personally, I have a little bit of a stickier situation than just a dress and some photographs. I’ve dealt with those: The dress is gone.’

‘The wedding photos are hidden, but I’m that girl who had her husbands initials tattooed on her body. Thank goodness they’re on my back, at the top of my spine, so I personally don’t have to see them. Nowadays, when people see my tattoo and ask: “What does that mean?” I say: “Oh, it’s the Celtic symbol for stupidity!” In fact, it’s: GS 6-8-11.

‘I’ve had to have it lasered off – a few times so far. They say it takes two years and 12 sessions. It is excruciating – at least three times worse than having a tattoo put on,’ she said.

Singer Morgan has also put the diamond bling given to her by her ex in a box.

‘I wore my wedding ring, which was soldered to my engagement ring, for the first six months of my separation. That was a clear indication of my denial right there.

‘Eventually, the ring came off. I was ready to leave the past behind me and walk into my future, without any negative memorabilia constantly reminding me of a me, that no longer existed.

‘I don’t want to sell it because it would never sell for what it’s worth. I’ll keep it just because it’s now a symbolic part of my history.’
