Christmas FM has exceeded all expectations to raise a whopping €360,000 for charity partner Focus Ireland this year.

The staggering figure has outstripped all previous fundraising targets set by the charity radio station and will go a long way to helping more than 300 families affected by homelessness.

Christmas FM is now in it’s ninth year and has partnered with many charities over the years including ISPCC, Barnardos, Simon, Age Action, Aware and Make-A-Wish Ireland.

Co-founder of the station, Garvan Rigby said:

‘We would like to thank everyone who helped to make this possible – our generous and loyal listeners, this year’s on-air sponsors An Post, Tesco and Cadbury, the Ballsbridge Hotel who once again provided us with a home for our radio studio, and all the volunteers involved in the day to day running of the station.

‘We are absolutely thrilled.’

Focus Ireland are also delighted with the work of the radio station and co-director of fundraising Sinead Price gave special mention to the ‘loyal listeners’ who showed such support and generosity in the fight against homelessness.

‘This is a wonderful achievement and will change the lives of hundreds of families and children who can now escape the nightmare of homelessness and look forward to a more positive future in their own home,’ she said.

‘We are so thankful to Christmas FM, the BAI and to the public for their overwhelming support.’

The 2016 fundraising figure brings the amount raised for charities by Christmas FM to €1.25m since it first aired in 2008.
