It has been a year of unexpected deaths – but none has caught people more by surprise as the killing of a sweet from the Quality Street box.
The brown-paper wrapper of the Toffee Deluxe will no longer appear in boxes this Christmas.
Nestlé announced that it will replace the sweet with a Honeycomb Crunch in their latest Quality Street tins.

The decision to replace the chewy sweet was taken in response to customer feedback, which found too many toffees in their boxes.
It is the first time a new sweet has been introduced in the box since 2007, when the Milk Chocolate Block was brought in.
A Nestlé spokesperson said: ‘We wanted to celebrate Quality Street’s 80th birthday by introducing the first new sweet for nearly a decade.’
Hey @Nestle, what on earth is this? What happens to the Toffee Deluxe? That was the best toffee in your Quality Street! pic.twitter.com/gPk7akTQE2

They added: ‘We did extensive research and found that the Honeycomb Crunch was the most popular option for a new sweet and that many people felt there were enough toffee based sweets in the collection so the Toffee Deluxe made way.’
The Honeycomb Crunch has been described as a lighter truffle infused with crunchy honeycomb and covered in chocolate.
However the loss of the Toffee Deluxe sweet, found in a brown wrapper, has caused outrage on Twitter, with many fans upset over the change.
Nah cannot take this year anymore. #GBBO now #QualityStreet have removed the Toffee Deluxe. I’m so done.
