When it comes down to it life is short but your career is long.

We spend so much of lives working that staying in the wrong job can leave you feeling unsatisfied and that the best case scenario, at its worst the wrong job can chip away at your self-esteem.

Your goal should ALWAYS be to live to work not just to work to live so if you have been feeling that you’re not getting enough from your current job or that you’re capable of more, it might be time for a switch.

Here are some of the signs that you might be ready for a change:

1)You’re miserable

Do you wake up filled with dread every morning? Feel a familiar panic start to set in on a Sunday night?

We all have bad days but if your job leaves you feeling miserable all of the time then you’re not going to feel better until you move.

2) Your productivity drops

Are you finding that it’s getting harder and harder to get through your workload every day? Are you making mistakes with simple jobs?

If the tasks you used to relish have become a chore then it’s time to look for something new.

3) You’re bored

It’s inevitable, especially when you’ve worked in a job for a while that doing the same thing day in day out will eventually start to grate on you.

If you find yourself counting down the hours until it’s time to go home then it’s time to go in search of new challenges.

4)You’re being undermined

It can be incredibly frustrating to feel that your ideas aren’t being listened to or that your colleagues are undermining your position.

If you’re being crowded out by overbearing colleagues then the situation is unlikely to change and you might need to leave to be heard.

5)Your conditions have changed

If you find that you’ve been pushed into taking on a lot of unpaid additional work then it might be time to go.

At the end of the day, you can’t let yourself be taken advantage of.

6) You’ve been overlooked

If you’ve been passed over for a position that you’re more than qualified for or find that your boss unfairly favours a colleague it can make work a miserable place to be not to mention having a knock on effect on your self-esteem.

If the situation doesn’t change it’s best to go somewhere that your skills and talents are valued.

7) Your lifestyle suffers

If you find that work leaves you feeling so drained that you’ve let all of your pastimes go or that cooking a nutritious meal feels beyond you then it’s time for a change.

You job shouldn’t prevent you from living your life.

8)You’re being singled out

There’s no excuse for work place bullying, if you feel that you’re being unfairly singled out for criticism from your boss or being frozen out by your co-workers then it’s time to make a stand.

That being so sometimes the only solution is to switch jobs, being healthy and happy is more important than any job.

9) You’ve peaked

You may love your job but once you realise that you’ve gone as far as you can go your interest can start to wane.

Which in the long term can leave you feeling unsatisfied. When you start to get itchy feet then time to see what else is out there.
