Gourmet Spotting is just what the name implies.  It's gourmet food sent to you discovered by the owners during their travels.  One of the tag lines of Gourmet Spotting is "Discover the world from your kitchen" Love it!  They send the best gourmet products from around the world, every month to your doorstep. For $37.94 a month (the box is $29.99 plus $7.95 shipping) you will receive a box of 4 to 6 medium to full sized hand-picked gourmet products.  In addition to sending you a box of delicious treasures they also donate a meal to charity for every box they ship.  You know I'm a big fan of the meal donations so this made me very happy.

I actually canceled this subscription but they had already billed me for August which is how I got this box. They also sent me an email saying they are going to send me an extra box to make up for my damaged box last month. I'm hoping that means I get a September box as well.

Contents of box with approximate retail price listed:

Crespo Pitted Green Olives. Value = $1.99

Morelli Pasta with Black Squid Ink. Value = $8.60

Salem Baking Cracked Pepper & Sea Salt Flatbread. Value = $4.99

Balsamic Kelp Vegetarian Caviar. Value = $9.99

Genovese Italian Basil Pesto. Value = $7.99

The value of this box is at least $33.56. I was soooo excited when I opened this box. This is the kind of box I love! This is true gourmet food. I saw the squid ink pasta first. I love, love, love squid ink pasta. I usually make my own but if you've ever cooked with squid ink you know it can be MESSY! I have bamboo cutting board with a permanent black stain on it from making squid in pasta. Kelp caviar? What is this? Again I was super excited. Caviar adds such an great touch of color and texture to small bite foods but a lot of people don't like the idea of eating fish eggs. I tried these plain and they don't have much of a flavor but will add texture. I had deviled eggs made with quail eggs and topped with caviar at Chandon in Napa that were delicious. I think I'm going to try and duplicate those using the kelp caviar. The olives, pesto and flatbread weren't as exciting as the other two items but I still liked them. Well everything except the olives, the boyfriend ate those because I don't like olives.

Verdict: This box is making me consider re-subscribing again. Loved this months box!
