Looking to update your home? Traci from the blog, Beneath My Heart shares great ideas for DIY home projects — with amazing before and after photos!

Hello! My name is Traci from Beneath My Heart, and I am so thrilled to be hanging out with you here at CherylStyle!

I am an avid DIY’er, and my husband and I, along with our four sons, love working together to update and renovate our 1970’s ranch. I wanted to share a few of my favorite DIY projects with you.

When we moved in to our home 3 years ago, the first part of the house we tackled was our very outdated kitchen.

Check the “before” out…

We knew that we wanted to remove the soffit and install open shelving. It made a HUGE difference in the look and feel of our kitchen. We painted the existing lower cabinets white and added new hardware.

Here is a before picture of the other side of the kitchen…

That orange door was our small pantry. We knocked it out and created some extra counter space, and then added a new, larger pantry with double doors.

Our kitchen looks like a totally different space, and I LOVE it!

Here’s our kitchen decorated for Spring…

Another project that we completed ourselves was our fireplace makeover.

Here is what it looked like before….

Very 70’s.

And here is what it looks like now…

My husband built the custom surround, and we painted the brick Ebony Fields, by Valspar. What used to be an eyesore in the room is now a beautiful focal point!

We have one room in our house that started out as our boys’ bedroom until we built a new addition to our home.

I knew that I wanted to eventually turn that room into my office/craft room.

It had a standard closet in that room, that I turned into my craft closet.

Here is the before and after…

I love having a space to hold all of my craft supplies.

Right next to my office/craft room is our guest bathroom. This little bathroom needed a lot of work when we first moved in our home.

Check out the before…

I know you are jealous of my leaf print, padded toilet seat and clam-shaped sink.

Well, my husband and I built a new butcher block vanity and installed wood planks on the wall. We also installed new tile on the floor and in the shower.

Lastly, I wanted to show you my latest DIY project in my two oldest boys’ room.

They share a room, so I wanted to create a wall on each side of the room to define their space.

My oldest son is a singer/musician, and this is his space…

We built the shelves using black pipes and 2×12 pieces of wood. You can see how we built them by click on the picture above or HERE.

And here is my second oldest’s side of the room. He likes a little bit of everything, but we sort of have an “explore” theme going on.

Thank you for letting me share some of my favorite DIY projects from our home with you.
