Grammy winner Henry Kaiser is widely recognized as one of the most creative and innovative guitarists, improvisers, and producers in the fields of rock, jazz, world, and contemporary experimental musics. The California-based musician is one of the most extensively recorded as well, having appeared on more than 250 different albums, as well as television and film soundtracks. A restless collaborator who constantly seeks the most diverse and personally challenging contexts for his music, Mr. Kaiser not only produces and contributes to a staggering number of recorded projects, he performs frequently throughout the US, Canada, Europe, and Japan with several regular groupings as well as solo guitar concerts and concerts of freely improvised music with a host of diverse instrumentalists. Kaiser has had a parallel career in the film and television industry for over 35 years, working as a producer, director, and soundtrack composer. He is also a scientific diver in the US Antarctic Program. Kaiser was a an early pioneer in the use of underwater video for scientific research and diver training.Â
The Grammy-nominated percussionist William Winant has performed with some of the most innovative and creative musicians of our time. He is principal percussionist with the San Francisco Contemporary Music Players, he has been closely associated with NYC composer John Zorn, and has made numerous recordings, and performed in many projects throughout the world with the composer. He has made over 200 recordings, covering a wide variety of genres. He is a Visiting Lecturer at the University of California at Santa Cruz, and teaches at Mills College and the University of California at Berkeley.
Tania Chen is a pianist, experimental musician, free improviser, and sound artist, working with pianos, keyboards, found objects, toys, and vintage and lo-fi electronics. She studied piano with John Tilbury during her Masters degree in Performance studies at Goldsmiths College, University of London. She has performed the music of John Cage, Earle Brown, Schoenberg, Webern, Satie, Scriabin, Andrew Poppy, Michael Parsons, and Chris Newman in the UK, Europe, US, and Japan. She is equally known for her passion for free improvisation.
