**Job Description**
In late 2010, Boeing Defence UK was awarded a contract from the UK Ministry of Defence called LogNEC Delivery Partnership. The LogNEC program is structured as a 10 year program which is to Sustain, Optimise, Stabilise, and Transform Defence Supply Chain Computing Information Systems. In order to execute the LogNEC partnership program, BDUK will maintain and enhance existing capabilities, as well as draw upon the considerable IT, Engineering, and Supply Chain resources of the worldwide Boeing Company to deliver Services-based capabilities to the UK MOD LogNEC customer and partner. This program was recently renamed Support Chain Information Services (SCIS). Boeing Defence UK are currently seeking a UNIX System Administrator on a Fixed Term Contract (ending 31st March 2015) to support computing systems (server, storage and network) located in our Support Chain Information Services (SCIS) data centres that provide hosting environments for SCIS applications and data. The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate technical skills and capabilities that are used to produce outcomes that meet technical quality, cost and schedule requirements and support a cooperative and collaborative work environment. Responsibilities will include: Overseeing system integration, hardware and software installation, configuration and disposition of servers and workstations to support the architecture. Providing problem resolution, root cause analysis and technical support for delivery systems. Participating in the design, validation and configuration management of computing delivery systems. Planning and coordinating system changes. Administering user system access and establishes safeguards to protect information to meet security requirements. Overseeing activities to monitor system performance to support capacity planning, backup and disaster recovery planning. Contributing to the completion of specific programs and projects. Interacting frequently with inter-organisational personnel and external customers. Representing the organisation by providing solutions to difficult technical issues associated with specific projects. Performs system monitoring and backup and restore procedures to ensure system and data availability. Administers users system access to meet security requirements. Position is located in Milton Keynes, UK. This is a FIXED TERM appointment, and contract will extend until 31st MArch 2015. Candidtes will be required to undergo Security Clearance - you must be eligible to acheive this level of clearance for the role. Some travel to MOD sites will be required.
