Sigmundur Davíð Gunnlaugsson is an Icelandic politician. He has been Prime Minister of Iceland since 23 May 2013. He is the son of Gunnlaugur Magnús Sigmundsson and Sigríður Guðbjörg Sigurbjörnsdóttir. He is married to Anna Sigurlaug Pálsdóttir.
Sigmundur’s paternal grandmother was Sigmundur Jónsson (the son of Jón Hjaltalín Brandsson and Sesselja Stefánsdóttir). Jón was the son of Brandur Sigmundsson and Anna Daníelsdóttir. Sesselja was the daughter of Stefán Jónsson and Guðrún Andrésdóttir.
Sigmundur’s paternal grandmother was Nanna Gunnlaugsdóttir (the daughter of Gunnlaugur Magnússon and Marta Guðrún Magnúsdóttir). Sigmundur’s great-grandfather Gunnlaugur was the son of Magnús Magnússon and Guðrún Guðmundsdóttir. Marta was the daughter of Magnús Einarsson and Sesselja Filippusdóttir.
Sigmundur’s maternal grandparents were Sigurbjörn Þórðarson (the son of Þórður Þórðarson and Sigríður Grímsdóttir) and Heiðveig Árný Hálfdánardóttir. Þórður was the son of Þórðar Jónsson and Herdís Guðmundsdóttir.
