Zyxel didn’t just recently rebrand themselves and added a new tagline to their company, they also got some new products at hand. They’ve now launched two new PoE switches for SMBs with easy to use web management. The new and affordable switches come in the form of the GS1200 series and there are two models to choose from: a five-port and an eight-port model.
The GS1200 PoE switches are designed for small business environments where they can deliver up 30 watts of power per PoE port and a max of 60 watts, providing both data and power to PoE-capable devices such as wireless access points, IP cameras, and IP phones. The new GS1200 series of web-managed PoE switches includes GS1200-5HP, which features five Gigabit Ethernet ports, four of which support PoE, and the GS1200-8HP which has eight Gigabit Ethernet ports, four of which support PoE.
The GS1200 series switches support Virtual LAN for enhanced network security, multicast IGMP Snooping v1/v2 and v3 for streaming applications, and Quality of Service (QoS) for better traffic control. The Web GUI is said to make them extremely easy to configure and manage and thereby make them perfect for smaller setups where the administrators aren’t as experienced as they are in large enterprises. The also support the IEEE 802.3az Energy Efficient Ethernet (EEE) function automatically detects network traffic and dynamically adjusts power consumption during low link utilization periods.
The Zyxel GS1200 Series Web Managed PoE Gigabit Switches carry a standard 2-year warranty and are available now through all Zyxel authorized resellers and e-Commerce partners at an MSRPs of $87.99 for the GS1200-5HP and $114.99 for the GS1200-8HP.
