You may not have Tony Stark’s billions, his genius or his workshop full of tools, but this new $290 desktop robotic arm called uArm Swift can help with any project and be better at it than most third arm options. Sure, it may not actually be as advanced as J.A.R.V.I.S. or Dum-E, nor will it help you make a technologically advanced war machine flying suit but with a 500g payload capacity, and affordable price, it is a very handy addition to any work environment.

It offers a lot more than desktop novelty as well since the uArm Swift robotic arm is open source and Arduino based. It can also act as a laser engraver, can be motion controlled, supports Grove modular electronics and is equipped with OpenMV cameras. The uArm Swift has 0.2mm repeatability, supports various extensions and has Blockly support for easy development.

It is currently seeking backing via IndieGogo and has easily surpassed their initial $10,000 asking by over 3000%, now currently at $321,138 across 661 backers with a month more to go. Early backers will get the treat of getting the uArm Swift for only $209 but a basic kit is currently available for $289 which includes the uArm Swift, Bluetooth,Swift Universal Holder and Swift Gripper attachments.

Higher end kits will provide industrial variant attachments including 3D printing, Laser and the option of OpenMV or GrooveKit. The projected MSRP is $489 for the basic kit and $765 for the Pro version of the basic kit once released on May 2017, but the IndieGogo funding offers 29-41% off of those prices.
