Using the novel opportunities offered by 3D printing, the Tartu-based Wolfprint 3D is among the first companies in the world to create a precise copy of the baby in the form of a figurine.
This figurine looks exactly the same as the little citizen of the world who is still hidden in their mother’s womb.
The 3D ultrasound image is usually taken between the 28th and 32nd weeks of pregnancy. Wolfprint uses ultrasound scans to generate a replica of the baby and then 3D print it using plaster.
The firm is currently able to 3D print up to 10 unborn baby sculptures per day and although the exact price per figure is sill in a formulation process, it is expected to cost up to 300 euros.
