The UMBC Department of Sociology and Anthropology invites applications for a full-time sociology visiting lecturer position beginning August 2016. Primary teaching responsibilities will be drawn from undergraduate courses in social problems, diversity & pluralism, research methods, social statistics, political sociology and/or sociology of drugs and alcohol. The standard teaching load is four courses per semester. Preference will be given to those who can contribute to one or more of the department’s core areas of focus in health; aging; diversity, gender & culture in global perspective; and, applied social science research/statistics both qualitative & quantitative. Preference will also be given to candidates who hold a Ph.D. in sociology or anticipate degree completion date by August 2016; however, candidates with a master’s degree in Sociology and substantial teaching experience will be considered. Opportunities for additional compensation through summer and winter teaching may be available. UMBC is classified by the Carnegie Foundation as a Research University – High Research Activity.
